Not sure about Burakovsky. If he's only got 9 points in 40+ games for the Caps, he'll be in the negative digits here.

What's the worst he could do? Score zero goals?

Sounds like just the kind of player who will fit in well with the Stars’ culture.

Nichushkin for Burakovsky is an interesting idea, but I think it's mostly a waste of time for both teams.

Nichushkin is a black hole of offensive suck who has changed his game to be a somewhat faster Blake Comeau. He's also about to turn 24 and has one more year on his contract at $3 million. He'll then be an RFA.

Burakovsky is also about to turn 24. He makes $3.25 million. He'll be an RFA this summer. Burakovsky is Swedish? I had no idea. Looks like the family was Russian but moved to Sweden a couple of generations ago.

The problem here is wondering just how much a change of scenery can help out. Burakovsky has been playing in the NHL for a while now. When this season ends, he'll have 334 NHL games under his belt. He's going to end the season with about 100 more NHL games played than Nichushkin, and those are all more recent games, too. Maybe coming here, getting more ice time, getting some PP time would see Burakovsky start to produce, but I kind of doubt it. Offensive producers don't need 300+ games to figure out how to put up points in the NHL.

Vishnevskiy ended up with negative one goals for us.

But to rid Val & his contract? I'd do it, but I don't think Washington would trade 1 for 1.

Of course not. Washington is trying to trade him for a useful NHL player to help them on a Cup run.

Yup, you read that right. In this article, I try to argue that trading for Milan Lucic is a viable way to improve the 2018-19 Dallas Stars. They said Nikola Tesla was crazy too, you know.

I wouldn't trade anyone on this roster for Lucic. Except maybe Polak.

I'd trade horseshit for Lucic.

Actual horseshit, mind you.

The same article that said:

Which is about the point I’m sure you expect me to admit this is some kind of joke. Only, what if I wasn’t kidding? More to the point, what if I told you this article was more about Ryan Nugent-Hopkins?

Then never mentioned Nugent-Hopkins again? What terrible writing. It’s that meandering, pointless bullshit with no conclusion, sort of like reading a ToddM post about Stars drafting and prospects.

They got you to click on a basically empty article, didn't they?

I also read that article waiting for Nuge-Hopz. I felt dirty afterwards. The entire thing was just a list of guys who are expensive and underperforming.

I was thinking about this. Even if he scored negative goals, doesn't that at least mean he's able to put the puck in the net? I might rather have that.

Negative goals would be goals in his own net.

I know, but it at least proves he has the skill to get the puck in the net.

Considering he got us Lehtonen, it’s way more than one.

Toronto gets Jake Muzzin --arguably the Kings' best defensive d-man, even in this tire fire of a season-- for a late 1st rounder and two mid-grade prospects.

LA got fleeced. A team with a ton of 35 year olds on shitty contracts who are underperforming just traded their only overperforming 29 year old on a cheap contract ($4 mil).

Yeah, good deal for TO. They need a D man like him too. Muzzin also has one more year remaining on his nice contract.

With all of the other expensive players of theirs tied down with no trade type clauses, trading Muzzin was probably more about them trying to do their best to tear down what they can because they know their cap situation will make them terrible for the next three or four seasons.

Google tells me it's a month away on Monday, February 25th, which is good. Gives Nill several more weeks of doing nothing as he waits to see how the team is playing leading up to the deadline before then deciding to do nothing at the deadline because Hanzal coming back will be like adding a player at the deadline.

I bet he's shopping Spezza, hard. Probably Val and Honka and maybe some of Newy's draft picks.

The returns will probably suck, but hey, NJ got Taylor Hall for Adam *fargin'* Larssen, so you never know.

A contender that needs a bit of scoring but that is also not up against the cap.

Oh, and that also have no access to video or the internet.
