This also seems to mean Columbus is keeping Panarin and making a run at the playoffs. Good for them. That's the right thing to do. Panarin is worth more to them on a playoff run now than a pile of picks and prospects that will likely never amount to anything.

Or they are trading Panarin and Duchene is the replacement.

The Ottawa Senators have traded pending unrestricted free agent Matt Duchene and defenceman Julius Bergman to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward prospects Vitaly Abramov and Jonathan Davidsson, a 2019 first-round pick and a conditional 2020 first-round pick, TSN Hockey Insiders Darren Dreger and Bob McKenzie report. According to McKenzie, the second first-round pick will go to the Senators if Duchene re-signs in Columbus.

If that's the market price for a guy like Duchene, I'm going to be livid if Nill doesn't make a move. That's absolutely a doable deal for the Stars.

Columbus plays Ottawa tonight. Just pack a bag and stroll over the other dressing room?

lol. When Columbus is a step up, you know you're a terrible franchise.

If Columbus is really loading up instead of selling... that's pretty ballsy. It's not like they're "one piece away" from being Cup contenders, especially with Tampa in the way.

It'll also make this summer's UFA period a lot more interesting. Panarin is legit elite. On pace for 95 points with two boat anchors for linemates.

I wonder if Duchene is a potential replacement for Panarin since it's obvious Panarin won't stay.

Toffoli would be the best option for the Stars, a long-term solution.

Duchene's best-ever season is worse than Panarin's worst-ever season.

It's looking like this trade wasn't quite the haul first made out to be. The prospects heading back aren't exactly high-end.

The guy with less than 30 points making almost $5MM? Hard pass.

That's true. But, he's better than not replacing Panarin at all.

I don't care what his stats are this season, he'd be a solution to the team's secondary scoring.

Not when Duchene went for that little. We should be able to pull off something better than that.

Of all the players in the league, you pick Tyler *fargin'* Toffoli as the solution to the Stars' secondary scoring issues?

If your standard is finding someone to replace the worst player in the league who has zero goals, sure it is an improvement, but holy *poo poo*. Aim higher or fold the team and relocate them.

I was hoping Nill would get something done today to let him get the new players on the roster and playing during the first two games of this road trip.

Guess not.

Tyler *fargin'* Toffoli when Stone, Dzingel, Nyquist, Hoffman, Zucarello, hell, even Kovalchuk, are all available?

I've seen it thrown around not to be surprised if Nill does nothing. Would honestly not really surprise me. The guy is looney tunes at this point. But, it's okay. He's guaranteed to be fired if he doesn't and the house will be cleaned.

Kevin Hayes for 2nd line center? He’s better than Spezza.

I think Derek Plante would make a nice addition.

Tyler *fargin'* Toffoli?

Adding a player who averages 21 goals over the past 5 seasons on very slow paced Kings teams (even with the lower shooting percentage this year) along with being signed for next season is basically useless.. Won't matter though, lastest reports from a writer on the the Kings say he's unlikely to be traded if Jeff Carter is.

Regardless of who we get, they're going to have a career low year here because that's the only thing this system produces. Don't ya'll get your panties in a wad over some shiny new forward who's going to score two goals in 19 games.

The point of adding a good player is to push a lesser player like Comeau down the lineup and to push a total waste of space like Nichushkin off the roster.

I’d enjoy a combo of Hayes and Zucarello.
