I hate to embarrass you like this, but you have committed the classic folly of trying to embed that which is not meant to be embedded.

They would prefer to keep Honka? Why?

From The Athletic interview with Montgomery:

Q: You mentioned Jamie Benn. How do you manage and help him in this stage of his career? There were games last season where you would bring back his minutes, and that seemed to work.

A: Jamie’s had a great summer. He and I have had a lot of healthy meetings about how do we get him prepared to be the elite player that I believe he is? And that he believes he is. That was something we worked on. Changing some habits off-ice, he spent the whole summer working on skating – agility and power skating. And he’s been here all summer. He’s put the work in so he’s prepared for success.

We’ve also analyzed parts of his game where we think he can be more efficient in. In the games where, I guess use the term, ‘Jamie Benn goes beast mode.’ I use the term when he’s on. He doesn’t need to change those nights. It’s those nights where he’s not on. How do we get him to be 90 percent of 100 percent instead of falling to 80 percent? Does that make sense? And that’s what we are analyzing. And to me, a lot of it comes from his play to get open without the puck and getting to areas when he’s not on that give him success. Which we’ve analyzed through video with Jamie.

All I can hope is all the extra skating will help him have some actual speed again. Makes you wonder what his training was in previous years. He obviously did something as he's clearly in shape, but maybe it was too many bicep curls for the team's liking.

Would he be the first Dallas-born player to play for the Dallas Stars?

Training camp starts in a few weeks, and Nill still doesn't know if Johns can play. Not good.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd collect all the press clippings from the offseasons before his worst years and see if they're even .0001% different from his best years. Other than Kessel, you pretty much never hear a team throw a player under the bus for his summer workout regimen.

The Kessel stuff is hilarious, too. Because who cares? He’s not going to play defense or do, you know, work. But he will go out and score just a tonne of goals, which seems like a pretty good skill to have. He’s a 25-30 goal, 60-70 point machine. Eat hot dogs, score goals, win Stanley Cups.

Clearly Benn has been eating the wrong brand of hotdog this entire time.

Did the Coyotes go back to those old jerseys full-time? Man those things are hideous.

The 90's were a terrible period for jersey design (remember the Blues' titled numbers, the Islander fisherman, The Oiler guy, the horrible Mighty Ducks third one, The mustard Preds' jersey, etc.). But The Kachina jersey was one exception, I really like those (but ok, the green desert alternate one with the cactus was a bit too much)

Also, if his face has the same BMI as the rest of his body, no one would call him lazy.

I don't think it's possible to be an everyday NHL'er and not be in great shape relative to normal people. I'm sure his conditioning sucks next to McDavid or Kane, but again, who cares as long as he is scoring?

Probably needs to be larger.

Also, mine is “one goal in double OT away from winning the Stanley Cup”. It simply goes without saying we would’ve beaten those other teams as well.

https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/top-10-norris-trophy-candidates-for-2019-20

Larkin has Heiskanen as a dark horse Norris winner next season. I know The Hockey News is like the NHL’s version of Cracked (without the godawful ads), but even in partial jest, how long has it been since the Stars have had a legit contender for an individual voted-on award?

Wasn't Klingberg a darkhorse Norris candidate last year?

Also, Bishop for Vezina. Also last season.

But yeah, I get what you're saying. Now we've got TWO Norris contenders for the first time since Goligoski and Daley patrolled the blue line.

Like a month and a half ago when Bishop was a Vezina finalist?
