Also most Stars fans are indeed morons. Just have a gander at the Dallas Stars subreddit. Yikes.

Val - 57 GP 0 Goals
CP - 31 GP 6 Goals

I had to get a calculator out, but I think Perry's goal scoring pace is slightly better.

NOTE - I did not remember that Hanzel played at all last year, but he and some dude named Condra were more productive than Val. JFC y'all.

If Corey Perry scores 1 goal all year, he's automatically an upgrade from Val and he's cheaper....

My calculator says Perry was on a 15 goal pace, which I believe would have tied him for fourth in forward goal scoring with Faksa.

Yeah. Really Avery was a bad one though because we gave him too much money.

Let’s not forget we once signed Matthew Barnaby. Always thought he was a complete jackass.
I feel the same about Perry. I hate his guts but grudgingly admit that he can probably improve any one of our 4th lines.

And if he can't, he has a marvelous contract set up for this. His incentives only kick in if he actually plays.

Yeah he wasn't half bad.

I really am pretty happy with this offseason.

I don't know if Pavelski will really be a better fit than Mats, but I think it's a distinct possibility. It's hard to be mad at my GM for signing a guy who scored about 40 goals last season. At the very least, I think our scoring lines are more than "sufficient" to compete for a playoff spot and hopefully enough others develop enough to be good to great.

I don't know whether Perry will amount to anything. I give it about a 75% chance that he wins a roster spot and is able to contribute positively. If not, it was worth the cost to try.

There's a long season to go and we can make adjustments as it goes on, but I think we're at least solid enough to not lose momentum from last season's playoff run as we start this thing.

We have a great young defense, and I actually do think Hintz will continue getting better. I am optimistic.

Worst case scenario with Perry is he doesn't work out and is a regular healthy scratch, and his contract is not an overly expensive one to scratch.

What happened to Oleksiak, wasn’t he #5?

He got downgraded to 2. Or upgraded. I can’t remember how the system works.

88 would have been cooler for Pavelski. Guess Lindros nixed that one.

Perry had 17 goals and 49 points in the season before last, and last season he was injured and on a terrible team.

That seems like a fine gamble to me. 17 goals and 49 points is...checks math....yup, well above “replacement level scrub” and within the past couple years.

Perry at least has done things before and has potential upside. I’d prefer to give him time over whatever 19 year old Todd has a hard on for who will score four goals then flame out and get non-tendered at the end of his ELC.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if Perry manages to score as many as four goals.

I think you're being hyperbolic about this. Very likely, Perry gets to 10-15. Possibly even 20 if he stays healthy.

I'm setting 15 as my super happy point. If he hits 15, it's a great signing. Anything over 15 is like winning the lotto. If he hits 10, it's still a good signing considering the cap hit and the fact 10 is still more than anyone he's replacing is capable of.

Just think. Cheaper than Val so even one goal is an upgrade.

Last off-season Patrick maroon signed a one year contract with the Blues and then they won the Stanley Cup.

There you have it. Proof that all free agent signings always work out.

Ok, what's his qualifying offer and what's the going rate for a 4th line center that Todd is trying to sell as a second liner?

If Dickinson's our fourth line center, then our top 9 must be stacked AF.
