That's because you don't know anything about hockey. You should remember him. He was *www.google.com Ctrl+V enter* a fourth round pick by the Kings. He *click transactions* was signed by the Stars over the summer.

I think Mersch was the twitter detective two years ago who was claiming that Trump was under dozens of sealed indictments.

Benn is straight up doing the Modano. Basically the face of our franchise (and at one point rightly so), but his piss poor effort lately is finally starting to taint the opinion of anyone who has really been paying attention, while the homers will continue to dangle from his nuts unconditionally.

So how do I feel about Benn at the moment?
I'd like for him to succeed with us, very much so, but I'd also be open to trading him if it actually improved our *poo poo* team.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

I think they're probably just putting out craigslist ads for people to tryout at this point.

Mersch has been pretty good so far in the AHL. But it's a little strange, considering he's not as good as Gurianov, Hintz, or L'Esperance.

I actually have to wonder if Spezza is about to get traded. Just a hunch.

He'll be hard pressed to match the zero goals that Gurianov has produced.

I love Spezza, but there's no reason not to trade him at this point. We aren't going to re-sign him, and he's not doing a whole lot to help keep this thing afloat.

It feels like they're moving around some pieces to make Spezza expendable.

And he's been playing noticeably better these last few games.

Also, if there is any plan to make another addition of some offense during this season, trading Spezza is pretty much the necessary next step to clear the cap space. The bloated Hanzal, Methot, or Nichushkin contracts aren't going anywhere for any asking price. You'd have to send a team something to make them take on those bloated contracts. Then again, even Spezza will be a hard sell. Most contenders don't have the cap space left for him, so the Stars are stuck retaining a bunch, which eats into the whole point of trading him.

But I just looked at Spezza. Remember early in the season he was on a 50+ point pace. Looked good, right? Now, his pace has dropped to 39 points. He has one goal in his last 17 games, and he has zero points in his last seven games. Ugh.

I like how they jettisoned Neal because he was Modano-ing, then they kept Benn over him, and now Benn is doing some serious Modano-ing.

I think most of that talk was largely to justify them trading a guy they weren't going to be able to afford to pay.

I think it's more like he is Modano-ing because his body is Morrow-ing.

I do feel sorry for him to a degree because his body will just continue to decline until he has to retire early at age 34 or so.

I feel like Benn could be better but is not one of our serious problems.

Maybe it was both. Either way, still kinda pissed about that considering Neal went on to be a great piece in Pittsburgh and Niskanen is playing solid #3 minutes in Washington.

But Benn would be less of a problem if they didn't have to 100% rely on him and Seguin and Rad-dad for offense. Allowing Benn to only play 14-16 minutes a night against slightly weaker competition would be a huge benefit I think. Instead he's hitting 18-21 a night against top defense and boy howdy, if I had to play 20 minutes a night against smart and physical top D then I'd hate myself too.

Also he needs a hug and some vacation.

I think most of Neal's best years were because of him siphoning off of Crosby.

Yeah, was pretty much a PPG in Pittsburgh, but still had decent years in Nashville. Still a productive NHL player one way or another.

And just to bring this full circle, James Neal has 10 points in 46 games this season (4/6) while Devin Shore has 17 in 42 (5/12).

Neal has always been streaky but good. Maybe not elite, but i never bought the Stars narratives about him.

Neal has a great shot but needs a center to create offense for him.

I can imagine Benn requesting a trade in the near future if this stuff keeps coming out.

What’s interesting is that he’s getting his scoops directly from the team. Lites, Monty, and a ‘team source’ that obviously wanted ananomity. Is it a campaign?

That team source might be TSF as a collective. None of what's being said has been new or shocking here.

I'd like to circle back to the "Benn & Seguin don't associate with rookies" rumour.
Which one of us was that again?
