Seguin is the face of the Stars when it comes to media appearances.

They really should make him Captain even though it doesn't mean as much as we think it means.

Bruins fans stopped drinking the anti-Tyler koolaid years ago and have been on his side for a long time now. I’m glad we fired Bursnside.

Yeah, I don't even know why he is bringing that up now. I don't even remember Bruins fans booing Tyler the first time he went back there. They didn't boo him when he scored his hat trick there either. Bruins fans knew that their management team fucked up.

So.... Trade for Nylander? Toronto can't afford him anyway with Marner about to need a new very expensive contract.

The Stars have less cap space than the Leafs.

I meant they couldn't afford him long term. Maybe the Stars can't either, but perhaps with Spezza's deal coming off the books there would be room

I think the challenge is clearing the cap space to even add him to the team now. Trading for Karlsson was going to be easier because the Senators were willing to take back three or four roster players and their contracts. The Leafs are too good to take back multiple players in return because the Stars don't even really have multiple guys the Leafs would even want. Honka's contract isn't even a fifth of what Nylander's cap hit will be this season.

To make it work, you'd need to move a big contract like Spezza (can't be sent to the AHL and has a nice NTC), Hanzal (limited NTC), or Methot (limited NTC). I don't know how Nill does so.

We need a proven young scoring winger and hot damn does Panarin check all those boxes. Plus Karlsson has looked meh so far with the Sharks. His lack of speed and creativity should be concerning. Very stationary play.

I emphasize the PROVEN part because of our cap concerns. There’s not much we can do but wait for Spezza’s 7.5 to come off the books and then throw that and then some at Panarin. It has to be a home run if we are going to put ourselves through further cap hell (like Scuba said, we are the Blackhawks but without any Cups to show for it). So a hard pass on Nylander. We are basically in Panarin limbo.

For now Methot can stay (he’s useful on the ice and is also EK bait), and Hanzal can stay on LTIR. I’d much rather have him on the ice when healthy anyways than friggin’ Val or Ritchie or Dickinson.

Nichushkin is this era's Fabian Brunnstrom.

Well my initial argument is that Panarin > Karlsson (for the Stars), but if we can't get Panarin, then hells yeah I'd take Karlsson in lieu of Nill telling us that our roster is fine the way it is time after time.

Heika: Patience, trust may be best solution to depth-scoring dilemma
The Stars believe they have enough in-house secondary talent to support their top line

Okay. I officially despise Mike Heika. This is such bullshit PR and if the Stars actually do believe this nonsense then they are totally delusional and there is no point in watching a single game from this point on.

The blueprint is everyone gets better and grows together, and that creates a team that is strong overall and hard to play against.

Fine. Give Gurianov a chance. It can't hurt. But, I seriously doubt it will fix anything.

Nichushkin should be waived IMO. He's got nothing. Janmark has been invisible as well.

This isn't going to be solved with "players already on the roster." Sorry. If they were capable of it, they would have already done so.

Trying to force it out by doubling down on "the process" isn't going to turn a shitty player into Ovechkin.

Nill has to say the solutions are internal because there aren't really any other options. He's pretty hard up against the cap, so trades for players making a decent amount of money are very hard to pull off. He also only has a couple of prospects worth a crap, so it's not like he's sitting on a stack of lotto tickets to trade away.

And sure, call up Gurianov. Why not? It will mean having to put a guy on waivers to send him down, but who really cares if Smith or Dickinson gets claimed.
