Carrick had like two good games for us, so whatevs. I like Fedun better than Hanley, who has been more lucky than good.

I still think they're looking for a bottom pair LHD who can play 18 minutes a night. Even with Klingberg and Carrick coming back, Carrick will probably play 7D/15-16 minutes in relief, and Klingberg will go back to playing 22-24.

I expect Methot and Johns to be LTIR fodder when Hanzal comes back if nothing is done from a roster standpoint.

Yeah, I think Carrick comes back to join Honka as the 7/8 guy who is mostly scratched. I mean, that's largely where Carrick had settled leading up to his injury. I hope Bayruther has done enough to stay. He's fun and seems to generate plenty of chaos with his shot.

If he'd played all 28 games this season and scored at the same pace he is now, he'd be the 5th leading scorer on the team. Ahead of Heiskanen. So he should definitely stay.

Which means he won't since he can be sent down without clearing waivers and we'll roll Methot out there to spare up the ice.

Can't afford to keep Methot off the LTIR if Oh so hot Hanzal comes back without clearing cap space.

I'm all hoping Bayreuther sticks but his defensive game and puck moving have been very very suspect. It's just the reality of his situation.

Hell, there might just be a spot for him, but he won't get PP time and play with top end offensive guys so his scoring would probably drop off... better off going down to the AHL and run amok there.

Hanzal injured, back on IR indefinitely. Let's go ahead and just post that pre-emptively.

That’s my opinion of him. Even if he brings next to nothing and struggles to even score ten goals the rest of the way, that’ll still be more than several other forwards contributing no offense.

It's okay guys. Nichushkin's great defensive play is all we need.

Gemel Smith is on waivers. I hope he's picked up elsewhere and gets more ice time

Means Hintz should be staying around, right?

Hintz has improved significantly since his first stretch at the start of the season. He's gone from "noticeably bad" to "unremarkable generic scrub."

Smith is certainly better than Ritchie. Why is Ritchie still around while Smith is not?

Yes. But how is his defense compared to Nichushkin's?

Yeah, I am glad to see him stick over Smith, but my guess is he's going to need to start producing to stay around much longer.

In an interview, Monty said the Stars don't use either Fenwick or Corsi to evaluate players. They instead use their own metrics that sound to be centered more on scoring chances and who is helping creste and prevent them.

That wasn’t the most interesting part of that interview.

No, but it was for this hockey side of things. Next time you wonder why the team favors a guy with a lower corsi number over a guy with a better corsi number, know they are using their own fancy metrics that don't use shots on goal as the basis of assigning value.

Just wait. On Monday, we'll be trading a draft pick to the Bruins for Gemel Smith because Hanzal broke his back while stretching during warmups.
