Is Honka + Nichushkin + random prospect + a couple picks enough to get us Nylander?

In our dreams.

It would have been at some point in time. But, Nill held on to both for too long and the cat is already out of the bag that both have a big bag of nothing so we will probably only get late-round picks in return now.

Coaches sure do love Ritchie. This is now the third coach in a row who can't wait to give him ice time.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Ritchie can at least elevate the puck.

For sure. He can too often take too long to get his shot off, but when he does, it's pretty good. Unlike the other guy who has a worse shot than your average beer leaguer.

Has Ritchie actually generated any shots this season though?

He has a really hard shot when he can get enough separation away from the defenders. But he usually can’t get any separation, which is why he does that spin-o-rama shot so often.
Could of.

He has been pretty awful this season. Too slow, so he ends up taking penalties.

Yeah but no one gets any separation on this team for some reason. I dunno, I kind of get the feeling Ritchie isn't happy to play here for whatever reason.

But B Kat is right, he's slow. If he was faster, which I thought was something he was working on, then he'd probably be a decent player night in night out.

That lack of speed is what keeps Ritchie from even getting more chances. When cycling in the offensive zone where you’re usually covering short distances, it’s those first couple of strides that win puck races, let you dart into passing lanes, and get you into space. Ritchie being slow to get going means he’s losing those races.

It’s also why he’s racking up the hits. Opponents are beating him to pucks and are moving those pucks before he gets there, so all he’s doing is hitting guys after the puck is gone.

I mean, I agree. The whole team seems slow though, which is why Comeau has a ton of hits and no points.

Some of these guys used to seem really fast, but maybe it was just that they had more jump to their game back then from never playing any defense.

They were also quite a bit younger. Seguin is about to turn 27 and has had lower body injuries. Benn is 29 and has had hip problems.

This is a pretty good shot:

They could have done better for Nichushkin. I’m sure there’s a clip of Ramsay yelling at someone who was given a chance on Hell’s Kitchen but demanded to go to Top Chef instead.

Khudobin had a little AMA on the Stars' site, and some of his answers are greatness:

Nill just called out Seguin and Benn on NHLN for not scoring. Said they were 54th and 89th in the league so he had to have looked that up for the interview. It was great.

Good. As much as the lack of secondary scoring making winning hard, the lack of scoring from the big guns makes it harder. It especially sucks when the PP is cold because other teams feel free to cheat when they know they won’t be punished for it.

Rember last year when the PP kicked ass the first two weeks of the season then turned to *poo poo*? Well it's happened again with a new PP specialist coach. Sometimes it is the personnel.

Early on, they were moving guys around and trying new things.

Recently, the PP is back to old faithful: the Seguin one timer. Over and over.

They crashed the net and took advantage of the extra guy early on. Now they're back to making pretty plays and easing it around the non-threatening areas.

If you exclude the first two weeks of the season, the Stars have the third worst PP at 11.9%. Same story as last year. :S
