Jon Sim is so disappointed.

Hopefully Elie doesn't make the roster.

Went to the game last night against the Wild. A few observations:

1. Hintz looked pretty damn good. Looked perfectly at home playing with Benn and Radulov. If he plays in a top 6 role, I think he will be noticeable. If he is hidden on the 4th line as a grinder, I think I'd rather see him playing in the AHL.
2. Radulov was in mid-season form as he took a stupid slashing penalty behind the play, which the Wild scored on.
3. Khudobin played pretty well. He made several really good point blank stops in succession. One Wild goal was really strange - came off the faceoff and should have been stopped - I'm not real clear exactly what happened because Khudobin had a weird reaction to it - almost like expecting a fastball and getting a curve instead.
4. Not anything new, but Heiskanen is definitely NHL ready. Was not a spectacular game, but solid. When he did make a mistake in the offensive or neutral zone, his speed allowed him to recover and he seems to play a pretty intelligent game.
5. The score should have been worse. Down two, the Wild pulled Dubnyk with about four minutes left while the Stars were killing a penalty. The Stars hit a post on the open net and a few other clearing attempts just went wide. Really wanted Khudobin to take a shot at the empty net, but he never really got the chance.

Hintz looked pretty ready at the start of last season. A new leechee for Benn I guess, two goals. Pretty good.

I do kind of like that Montgomery gave Honka a chance with number one minutes the other night, and then said he looked tired. Instead of immediately demoting him to the AHL, Montgomery gave him two days of rest (previously, he'd played three games with no practice days off in between), and is trying it again tonight. That makes...logical sense?

Thank God he didn't read the Hitch/Ruff book of coaching.

So this Hintz guy. He may be the second coming of Brad Richards.

That's tied with the 2017 Cleveland Browns. Looks like we will be going 0-82 this year.

This PRESEASON CHAMPIONS banner is going to look great next to all our OFFSEASON CHAMPIONS banners.

Listen, we are trying to trend upwards. These are building blocks toward hanging another (Regular Season) banner.

Yes. Another Central Division Champions banner is the goal.

It would also mean that we had better regular seasons than the Preds and Jets.

I would settle for just beating those two in a few games.

We are the 5th best team in the division, at best. That means we're fighting for the final wildcard spot, at best. And that's assuming every team in the Pacific division either stays the same or is worse this year. I don't see any real reason to think this team is going to make the playoffs.
