This is going to be one of the most exciting groups to barely miss the playoffs in a long time.

I remember he had 29 with many games left in the season and just sort of decided to pass the puck from then on. He was on my payroll.

Nelson is going to be in charge of the power play, Barnes will overlook 5-on-5 play, and a third assistant will be in charge of the penalty kill, Montgomery said. Nill said the team is in the process of finding that third assistant coach, and that there is no timeline.

Coaching changes are always fun because there's a brief window of time when you're allowed to be hopeful it's not the players who suck.

I think we are all smart enough to know that Remi Elie is not secretly a 40 goal scorer who was just being held back by Hitch.

His career matches up pretty well to Wild Bill Karlsson's. I suspect Elie's 43-goal breakout season won't happen until 2020, tho.

And it will be in Pittsburgh.

His name is sufficiently French enough as to indicate hidden scoring potential.

Wait, so does that mean that Curt Fraser is gone?
Or is he the one who's going to be in charge of the PK? LOL

I think Fraser is not directly coaching. And the Lightning were not good defensively recently, so I don’t think hiring their former defensive coach is what’s needed.

I like Monty's candidness and openness. It's refreshing.

He's got a charming naivete about him.

It’s something I expect to see dry up soon. This kind of tweeting is what college coaches do as a form of continual self promotion to drive recruiting. I think it’s fun now, but the moment a few losses pile up, he’s going to hate the response he gets when he shows a hint of personality online.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I don’t think the naivete will be quite as charming when we are 6-12 in mid-November.

I want to hear a coaches meeting where he says "we're going to mainly not have the puck" and "passive defense is how we'll win".
