I agree on the phone thing - that may be more of a professional courtesy to a particular team or management individuals. With respect to the other teams, sure he knows people on teams and might know someone on a coaching staff or management team. But would you want to be making an $80 million decision that will determine what your life is like for the next 7-8 years without at least meeting the people who will be your bosses? And then you've got individual perceptions - Seguin may have loved Nill and Hitch last year. I suspect Spezza and Oleksiak would have offered an entirely different scouting report.

Also, just because he may know certain team members doesn't mean he knows much about the cities, or that he doesn't want some cool swag from the teams.

But he's doing all of these team meetings in Los Angeles, so it's not eve like he's getting a look at the city or practice facility. He's going to get a bunch of lame power points awkwardly delivered by guys who seldom give presentations.

I don't think so - I think recruitment pitches are considerably more in-depth.

CHI isn't going to give a qualifying offer to Anthony Duclair. You know I'm a fan if the Stars sign him

Also, The Athletic had list of UFAs this summer. Pretty good names on here: https://theathletic.com/407632/2018/06/ ... -top-ufas/

All right. But you should know that sudden serious brain injury causes the victim to bite down hard. In fact, I hear the bite reflex is so strong they have to pry the victims jaws open with a crowbar.

Hello, Craig. Where do you like to pee?

Also, I want Hammond as our back-up so I can get a HAMBURGLAR jersey.

It'd also be ironic because our last back-up was somehow way fatter than a dude named after a dude who steals burgers.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

How do you intend to pay for government-funded dinosaur space soldiers without some type of tax?

So here's the most important question by far!

Say we sign Tavares and Seguin is not traded.........

Who gives up Number 91 ?!?!?!!!?

Thank god. I was worried me ordering his jersey was going to be the greatest jinx. Now if this doesn't work out, it's on someone else.

So Martin St. Louis is a Hall of Famer, but Sergei Zubov isn't. Makes total sense.

(And don't get me started on Bettman going in at this time. Not saying he shouldn't go in at some point, just not while he is still the active commissioner of the NHL!)

Martin St. Louis was a fine hockey player. But, Zubov was only second to Lidstrom as far as greatest defenseman ever in my opinion.

Tampa Bay giving J.T. Miller a 5-year, $26MM extension is going to make signing Tavares somewhat difficult.

Something is pretty effed up when your Hall of Fame class only includes two players who are there because of their success in the NHL.
