That's not good for how much Seguin will cost.

Yeah, we are going to be amazed at how much the New York Rangers end up paying him.

I wonder how much Seguin actually likes being in Dallas. Hopefully more than Richards. I always got the sense that Richards just sort of put up with being traded to Dallas and wasn't overly excited about it.

The only reason to stay here is if you don't give a *poo poo* about winning and enjoy the low pressure from the media and the relative anonymity of living in a town like Dallas.

Jeff Skinner is reportedly on the trading block. I would support us acquiring him.

ROR too.
And the only thing dumber than the Evander Kane (who sucks) gross overpayment is the Niemi re-signing. Were the Habs too impatient to wait another month for Lehtonen?

The story in The Athletic had further details. I enjoyed the reaction of his teammates/roommates who named the tapeworm "Teddy" and made tons of "eating for two" jokes.

Maybe it’s just me, but this seems like a fantastically stupid idea:

If the idea is to ever get useful information for a story again, I think this lady just burned that bridge and then ran the ashes through a wood chipper.

Back to my bulging eyes. After admitting both he and Watson are hoping for a new owner, Alfredsson said the comment was off-the-record. Frankly, I was taken off guard. In the world of off-the-record, the terms of the interview are agreed upon before anything begins.
As a columnist, I go off-the-record all the time. It’s key to being a columnist, to get an understanding of what’s really going on, of hearing the truth without the person being interviewed in fear of being reported on. But you can’t change the rules of the game part way through an interview.
Watson of course is well aware of the rules and has an understanding of what he can and can’t say and when he can do that. He and I have gone off -the-record countless times. No surprise that when asked about his alleged desire to see a new owner, Watson did his best tap dance. He didn’t let himself be pinned down about whether he’d actually shared that with Alfredsson and he would only say he had no say about who the owner is – but would do what he could to see a new NHL arena at Lebreton Flats.
Then Watson said Alfredsson told him he didn’t know he was talking to a reporter. Well, that’s hard to believe. If Alfredsson, whom I’ve interviewed several times, didn’t know I was a reporter, why would he have suggested after the interview his comments were off the record? Don’t buy it. But it really does’t matter. In the world of social media, anyone and everyone has access to getting the truth out – whether it’s through standard or social media. And the truth is, Alfredsson and Watson are right. For everyone’s sake, let’s hope the Ottawa Senators get a new owner.
If the idea is to ever get useful information for a story again, I think this lady just burned that bridge and then ran the ashes through a wood chipper.

Re: 2018 NHL Off-Season Thread
You know, the Wilson hit on Marchessault was late and a cheap shot, but minutes earlier Marchessault had cheap shotted Oshie in the back after the whistle had blown. I didn't hear the announcers get all over his case for that. They just referenced it as "Marchessault giving Oshie a shot there" even though it was a dirty play.

There were a lot of uncalled cheap shots in that game.

Re: 2018 NHL Off-Season Thread
It was a nasty game near the nets. The refs really swallowed their whistles, and that amps up the cheap shots.

What about when Reaves cross-checked (leveled) Carlson in the back (to gain a clear advantage) and scored the tying goal? That was total BS. If that had happened against (insert your favorite team), you would be incensed. Its one thing to "let the boys play" its totally another to abdicate enforcing the rules when it has a direct, linear impact on the outcome of the game.

Re: 2018 NHL Off-Season Thread
Yeah, the refs were terrible in the game. I was just pointing out how the commentators were shitting all over Wilson for the hit, but there were many equally cheap shots before and after that they didn't call that player out for being dirty or cheap.
Also, sorry for posting my original comment in this thread instead of the playoffs one.

Hell, the announcers were praising cheap shots taking place in front of the net.

Didn't realize that Kovalchuk left the NHL with exactly 816 points in 816 games played.
He will no doubt drop to below a PPG player this season.

Kovalchuk has stated that winning is the priority for his NHL return.
Not sure if that's good or bad news for us, but it should definitely eliminate the Rangers right?

Oh so the Sens have a gay assistant GM. That's pretty cool.

Flynn said Lee was attending an NHL function Wednesday night as part of the league's pre-draft scouting combine being held in Buffalo when he requested a shuttle to transport him back to his hotel.
Lee first asked the 19-year-old male driver if he could sit in the front seat of the van, and then made lewd comments while placing his hands on the driver's shoulders, Flynn said.
When the driver told him to stop, Lee persisted and began rubbing the man's shoulders, Flynn said.
As they arrived at the hotel about 10 minutes later, "Lee allegedly made a reference to his own private parts and made a vulgar lewd statement," Flynn said.
"The driver was obviously shaken by this," Flynn said. Flynn said the man immediately reported what happened to the hotel's security chief.
Lee is barred from going to the hotel and having any interaction with the driver.
