Some people rise to the challenge and other people Kari Lehtonen.

I could see Panarin getting a bigger return than Karlsson, just based on EK's injury history and the fact that Ottawa is a mickey mouse organization with its head welded firmly into the depths of its own ass.

You're thinking of Anaheim.

Not for me. I saw signing Seguin as something expected. It had to happen, but it also does nothing to make the team better.

I agree, but I will give the Stars and Seguin credit for a damned reasonable deal in terms of AAV. I was pretty floored at the amount.

Now we wait to see if Nill makes good use of that cap flexibility or if he goes and signs another Hanzal with it.

I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get Karlsson, but I always felt that was a pipe dream. But if we didn’t extend Tyler, I would have flipped out. And his salary is a big hometown discount. Great deal for Dallas.

Ben Gleason, a tryout invite to the Traverse City tournament, got a 3-year entry level contract yesterday, too.

He was so impressive that he'll sit in the minors for 6 years.

Eh. Maybe. But there's zero risk in signing him, and a lot of potential reward.

Nah, Tyler just made one offhand remark which a half dozen people reported as news, making it seem like there were a half dozen stories about it. But it was pretty much in the bag.

6 years from now fans will be livid that Gleason is getting ice time instead of the 2020-2022 defensive draft busts.

I see the second line consists of Spezza, Janmark, and Nichuskin. Genius. Glad we got some fresh ideas in here.
