I doubt they really are. We're probably on the list to drive up the asking price for the team he really wants to go to.

But we will definitely get a Heika piece about how we are a top tier organization just because Panarin considered talking to us one time before signing somewhere else.

He wouldnt care about the asking price for his own trade, tho.

Its possible this is whats holding up the Seguin talks.

Tyler Seguin on extension talks, new Stars head coach
“I’m excited to work with him. He’s going to bring our speed back a little bit and how quick we play, and I think it’s going to work out.”

Dallas Stars standout Tyler Seguin is entering the final year of his six-year, $34.5 million contract but isn’t all that interested in becoming a free agent, he told reporters during an NHL promotional event in Chicago on Thursday.

Heika: The fact that Seguin is even considering the Stars shows that they are a top tier organization

The fact that they hired Heika shows that they are not.

I am guessing that DMN was about to give Mike "the left foot of fellowship" when the Stars put him on the payroll.

Years of hockey mediocrity and declines of DMN circulation mean "No Job" for a hockey writer in Dallas.

They hired a replacement. I was pretty surprised.

The DMN is a liberal rag. No wonder he left for greener pastures. I just don’t think he works as hard as Shapiro or has his objectivity, which is why I subscribe to the Athletic.

Very relieved that Pacioretty is off the market.

And food for thought: although it ended up being mostly bullshit, the rumours at the time of the VGK, DAL, TB love triangle had Suzuki being the player that Vegas didn't want to part with, hence holding up the deal, and now he's gone.

And now this from Ottawa:

https://www.tsn.ca/melnyk-senators-rost ... -1.1170964

Melnyk: Senators’ roster overhaul imminent

Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk broke his long silence regarding the direction of his club in a strange video released late Monday night. As Ian Mendes explains, Melnyk said Sens fans should expect a ‘fresh and brand new’ 2018-19 season with ‘young players coming in’ for a rebuild. Is an Erik Karlsson trade now on the horizon?

Honka will make an excellent player around which to build.

Pretty fair assessment of what to expect from the pre-Karlsson Stars:

Pretty much. Uses only stats from the last two seasons to predict the Stars will be a bubble team with about 92 points, but addresses the possibility that last year's Hitchcock-led Stars were a backwards-looking anomaly and that the true Stars might be as good as 96-98 points.

Yeah. This team is very meh. Better than the pesky Stars of 5-6-7 years ago, but not spectacular.

I doubt Montgomery is the missing ingredient.

Their entire top line and #1 d-man ARE spectacular.

Even in a down year under a defense-only coach last year, they were still the 6th best offensive line in all of hockey. If Monty is as brash and bold as he promises, they could be lights-out the most entertaining line in the NHL.

Not really. The opponent has one line to shut down at this point because, after that line, we have nothing.

We're almost like the Mighty Ducks of the 90s. Not quite that bad, but it's a similar problem.

Maybe adding Todd Nelson and Rick Bowness will be though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

I know it's a huge question mark, but I'm actually pretty excited about our coaching staff letting the freak flag fly.
That's what I've decided to call Monty's coaching strategy.

What’s his coaching strategy? I haven’t bothered learning anything about the latest scapego.. head coach.
