Yup and it shows what the management, including Gaglardi, think about winning.

Someone should tell Gags that, in other sports leagues, they don't automatically have lockouts every single time they can. If he doesn't want to get fucked over by a lockout, there's a guy he can talk to about that.

Lock-out proofing these contracts for the top players is the "going rate" - if that is the sticking point then the Stars need to get over it.

I would be totally speechless if they let Tyler walk.

It sounds like Tyler is somewhat soured on staying anyway since the Stars are being finicky about it. Hope his on-ice performance isn't affected by this.

In a six-minute, 33-second interview on Tuesday afternoon, Tyler Seguin used the words “disappointed” or “disappointing” four times to describe his contract situation with the Dallas Stars. That was probably by design. But whatever the intent, it was not good news for the Stars.

I don't know enough about contracts to know. Are there justified reasons for the Stars to be doing this?

No. Seguin is in the conversation for, if not one of, the top 10 players in the NHL. If he has another 40-goal, (almost) 80-point season, every team in the league with cap space will throw a 7-year, $12MM - $13MM/AAV contract at him. Bonus-heavy contracts are the going rate for players of his caliber. This isn’t a negotiation the Stars are going to win. He has all the leverage.

Then just give him his *fargin'* money and be done with it. Stop screwing around.

Do we even need Seguin? With Val back in the fold, I'm not even sure there's really room for Tyler.

We already have Tyler Pitlick. Two Tylers is one too many anyway.

Yeah but Kari has a higher sv% on high danger shots than low danger shots.

Quick. Sign that guy. He'll be great in high-pressure situations and elimination playoff games!

I'm curious. How are they defining "high-danger?"

I think it's any shot from between the circles or closer.

Of course, for Kari "high danger" actually means "unscreened shot from the blue line."

cdanew wrote:Whether Seguin stays or not, I'm pretty sure this is my last year as a full season ticket holder, unless by some miracle the Stars make the Stanley Cup finals. With the boys not being around for most of the season and my wife's interest in going to games at an all time low, dealing with the tickets is getting to the point of being more trouble than its worth. I still like my seats and they are still a good value, but one of the reasons I kept renewing them was the hope to be able to share a long playoff run with the kiddos. And we can see how well that has turned out!

This post has stuck with me. If only there was a way to make T-Gags read it.
Like maybe leave it as a tip at Moxies.

So deep and great is my compassion for others that as I was reading this story a single tear welled up in my eye and then rolled down my cheek. I then gazed off into space for a few seconds before wiping it away.

I actually don’t miss that stuff. I like the high energy, high skill of today’s hockey. I just miss the Stars being relevant.

I wish they could combine both. The crazy brawls were fun, but I agree that the high energy, high skill stuff today is awesome too.

Looks like Seguin being open about his frustration did some good.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Stars are apparently on Panarin's shortlist.
