Julius Honka's little brother might be turning some heads soon:

Younger brother, not little brother. I find it hard to believe there's anyone littler than Honka, except for maybe Peter Dinklage.

The Hockey News yearbook is out.

Heiskanen is listed 3rd in their Rookie Report as a Calder hopeful (behind Dahlin and Mittelstadt).

For their Top 50 Players, Seguin is listed at #28 and Benn at #36 (Klingberg did not make the cut).

They gave the Stars 30-1 odds to win the cup.
They have us finishing 4th in the Central / WC2, and losing to the Jets in the first round.
They also have the Jets beating the Lightning in 7 games to win the Stanley Cup.

Offense: We are one line + Klingberg.
Defense: We improved dramatically last season.
Goaltending: "With Khudobin projected to start 30-plus games to minimize Bishop's workload,
once an overpaid sore spot, goaltending is now a position of strength."
Special Teams: 2nd PP Unit needs to not suck, PK is average.
Intangibles: Montgomery's leadership.
Rookies: HEISKANEN HEISKANEN HEISKANEN!
X-Factor: The production of our bottom 3 lines LOL. "Nichuskin has an opportunity to be a fixture on the second line, which would force players such as Brett Ritchie down in the line-up to more suitable roles." *fargin'* LOL.
The Brass: Nill is in the hot seat.

Future Watch Top 10 Prospects:

01) Heiskanen
02) Dellandrea
03) Nichuskin
04) Dickinson
05) Gurianov
06) Hintz
07) Tufte
08) Oettinger
09) Point
10) Robertson
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

That top 5 lists contains a goalie (who we won't know for 7 years if that was a good pick or if he's 2 Campbell 2 Furious), two and a half busted picks, and Heiskanen.

Trying to sneak Nichushkin back onto the prospect list is pretty funny. He's on his third pro contract. How is he on there but Honka isn't? Or are they simply saying Honka doesn't belong in the top ten?

The rest of the prospect list is ugly. The second best prospect is a kid drafted #13 a couple of months ago? Man, that tells me a lot about how they view the other guys on the list who have had time to show what they have in higher levels of hockey, and it's not much.

Heiskanen getting Calder consideration is about the only way I see the Stars improving over last season. If he's not awesome, there's not much hope to be seen.

I was confusing him with Oettinger. Let's call him 2 Ritchie 2 Furious then.

The organization has sold the Heiskanen Hype Train so hard, I'm seeing people make Duncan Keith comparisons. Some people are going to be really bitter if he turns out to be just...good?

These are the conclusions I keep reaching as well. I think the kid is probably going to be good, but when you're being hyped as the next Scott Niedermayer and if you aren't there's no hope for your team to have success, that's a lot of unfair pressure.

He also played 2 full seasons with the Stars. That doesn't sound like a prospect to me.

Ha.

But seriously, the Stars prospects probably do suck.

But those lists every year are absolute garbage and the writers have no clue about any team.

"When that line is going, the other team can't handle them. So when they are going, you are going to see that line play together. But there are going to be other times where I might not like what they're doing and I am going to move one of the three. I don't know which one, but I'm going to try to create something different or new." -- Montgomery on how he might deploy the top line of Benn, Tyler Seguin and Alexander Radulov.

Gee......this seems taken straight from the Lindy Ruff playbook :DeadHorse:

Yeah, but really, what other choice does he have? Those are his 3 best offensive players and the drop off after them is pretty significant. If the opposition is successfully shutting down that trio it makes some sense to spread the wealth a little bit. Anyway, no coach keeps a line intact 100% of the time.

So Benn will need to remain tethered to Radulov so he can leech points, while Seguin will be left to fend for himself again, just with Val this time instead of Tyler Pitlick. Got it. This season is shaping up great.

Looks like the Stars are going cheap on their offers to Seguin. In the process, they've annoyed him to the point where he's now talking to Canadian hockey media about it.

If the Stars let Seguin walk because they don't want to pay him the going rate, I might be fully and completely done with this team.

Whether Seguin stays or not, I'm pretty sure this is my last year as a full season ticket holder, unless by some miracle the Stars make the Stanley Cup finals. With the boys not being around for most of the season and my wife's interest in going to games at an all time low, dealing with the tickets is getting to the point of being more trouble than its worth. I still like my seats and they are still a good value, but one of the reasons I kept renewing them was the hope to be able to share a long playoff run with the kiddos. And we can see how well that has turned out!

I don think it’s the salary necessarily, but it’s the structure. Jamie’s new deal includes a $10m bonus right before the lockout starts in two years so he makes his salary for that year anyway, and I guarantee you Tyler wants the same. And Gaglardi doesn’t want to be $20m out of pocket in a lump sum right when your teams’s cash flow comes to a halt.

I don't care about four people repeating the same quote. I do care that Seguin spoke out. In the hockey world, it's very rare for players to vent negotiation frustrations the press. I care even more about learning they've been at a standoff since the draft. Two months without any movement is troubling.

If Seguin walks, Nill should DEFINITELY be fired. *f-bomb* that *poo poo*.
