Now it's clear this is about a lot more than $20k. This is about getting an NHL salary vs an AHL salary.

He's done nothing to deserve a $900,000 salary.

He's just playing it smart. We all know exactly what the arby will do: meet halfway. So by asking for way more than he's worth, he'll probably end up slightly higher than what he's worth.

Okay. I officially love Monty lol. I can't see any past Stars coach tweeting that out there.

His twitter fluency is only endearing because he hasn't had a 10th place finish yet.

He's totes different than the last 5 or whatever coaches who failed here.

It's not because our team isn't good enough. All those previous guys who have been coaching at the highest level for a long time just apparently suck at their jobs.

Sometimes replacing the coach does work, of course. But it seems like when you get into the coaching carousel spiral you are just grasping at straws.

I would argue that modern Hitchcock does suck at his job. Ruff too. They both suck now. Gulutzan was too green and has failed at both head coaching gigs he has had. Crawford's crappiness is self-evident.

Smith looked pretty good to me. I'm fine with this.

What I'm not fine with is seeing every roster spot and almost every cap dollar consumed... and there was essentially nothing done to upgrade the team other than the back up goalie. Ugh.

A two way deal, so he would have made AHL money if sent down.

Good lord, the Coyotes have some amazing numbers there. Dump it in and don't get it seems like an odd way to play hockey.

So the Sabres are good at getting it back, but that sure didn't translate into wins.

Good strategy for nursing a lead home, but looks like the Stars aren't good at it.

They didn't include what those win percentages are. I can't imagine they are high numbers. If the Sabres only win it back 30% of the time, them being the best at it still means they're giving up possession 38.22% of the time they take the puck up ice.

Even when we were the most exciting team in hockey, we still only got like 3 games. Gotta show all 12 Flyers-Rangers games, after all.

Meh. I'm glad. Fewer blackouts so I can watch more of the games in real time on NHL.tv.

Fun with numbers:

https://theathletic.com/465949/2018/08/ ... st-assets/

But the reality is that Jamie Benn has only made the playoffs twice since breaking into the league. Seguin has played 42 playoff games with the Bruins and just seven with the Stars.
