They are fucked. You’re right. This is an ongoing problem for them. They didn’t get offers they liked at the deadline. They didn’t get offers they liked at the draft. They didn’t get offers they liked prior to free agency.
Now, they are still trying to trade him at a time when most teams have their cap/budget money spent and rosters largely set. There aren’t a lot of teams with $6.5 million laying around to spend right now.
The Sens are holding out and finding a smaller number of possible bidders, and those bidders knowing there is no way the Sens have to trade him with offers only going to go down if this carries on into the season.
