If the Senators wouldn’t even trade Hoffman within their division for a better return when they were desparete to dump him, why would they trade Karlsson to a division rival?

Anybody else notice all the preemptive damage control articles coming out of the Dallas news sites, especially Heika? All this talk about getting Jeff Skinner or Panarin instead and how we don't really need Karlsson all that much.

Seems they are afraid of what fans will do if they don't land Karlsson haha.

Well.... they're not wrong. Skinner and Panarin actually fill a huge hole in our lineup, whereas EK doesn't.

If you asked any Stars fan six weeks ago what the Stars' biggest need was, it wasn't an $11 million a year No. 1 d-man, it was a competent, offensive minded second line. If you get a chance to get a talent like Karlsson without crippling your team going forward, then sure. The team would clearly be better with him. But if you can acquire some decent offensive pieces for the same or lesser price you may be able to get to a place close to where you would have been with Karlsson and not give up the highest and most widely praised draft pick the team has had in almost thirty years.

I mean, I'd be fine with Skinner or Panarin. It's not Karlsson, but it's definitely an improvement.

The thing is those might not be viable trade options. Is Skinner really a trade option? Who knows. Panarin would be awesome, but the hockey internet is sure he only wants to sign with one of three teams, and Dallas isn’t one of them. If true, then Panarin is out as an option.

Karlsson may not be the perfect solution, but he might be the best way to improve the team given the options out there.

Did EK get traded, then?

Also, we might have to go with what we have to start the season. So don’t be so surprised.

Skinner is a huge risk with his concussion history, and he's going to need big contract extension. One more and who knows if he's going to play again.
Karlsson would fill a huge hole in the lineup, puck moving from defense, most of the team's passing was awful last season.

I certainly won't mind Panarin or Skinner coming in. Just obviously would rather have the big fish.

I feel like Panarin is overrated. I mean sure fresh bread is good, but they only sell sandwiches for the most part. How hard is it to make a sandwich?

Still they are delicious.

Talks between the Lightning and Senators regarding a potential Erik Karlsson trade have subsided. Indeed, Dallas has re-emerged as the most likely destination for the two-time Norris recipient if Ottawa moves him within the foreseeable future.

That supports the thought that Ottawa has been floating false information to the media to make Nill or perhaps McPhee blink.

lol. Nice try.

The thing about having a bluff called like this is that now everyone assumes all information coming out is suspicious.

Erik Karlsson looks like a mix of Bobby Orr and Sergei Zubov.

Are we sure Heiskanen is going to be this good?
