Bishop had a nice rebound performance though. He was excellent tonight.

Very Hitchcockian win. Take the points and run.

I am now cringing about his next start as it seems that he shits the bed after every good game.

I’d start scratching Spezza in favor of Dickinson. If nothing else, Dickinson will at least skate hard to get back.

Yup. Even calling up McKenzie would be better than Spezza at this point.

I agree with Hitch. I was unimpressed. The Stars didn't really deserve this win. They will get blown out by the Lightning if they play like that again.

Why is Stu Barnes continuing to have them do that drop pass *poo poo*? Why not skate in with the puck and try and score off the rush?

My question is more why is the power play a one or two shot power play and then done? What the hell is going on that they can't maintain possession in the zone and keep getting shots? The difference between Calgary and Dallas was pretty dramatic last night.

Well, part of it might be the fact that they only get into the zone half of the time because their entries suck.

It's because most of their shots lately come from bad angles with no one around the net. When Seguin shoots the puck when he's down low and closer to the wall than the net, he's shooting at a narrow target. If he misses high, it's probably going out of the zone or up in the net. If he gets it on net and low, the goalie is keeping it or the rebound is going to where a defender can get to it first.

They've gone back to everyone being wide with their butts against the boards, and it sucks. They tried to mix it up a bit last night with Ritchie trying to plant in front of the net, but he doesn't have the hands to be a real threat. They also tried having Seguin and Radulov switch sides for one PP (the one where they scored), and it mixed things up. Instead of relying on the one timer, it was going to force Seguin and Radulov to take the puck to the net.

So let's plant someone with an actual scoring ability in front of the net. I mean, that works for what, 29 other teams?

Just as I was shouting, Why is Ritchie on the power play? They scored. :)

It’s a hard game, and it’s hard to constantly stay on it every night. But these last twenty games are do or die. The teams with the most stamina will win.

Perhaps Benn would be a good candidate.

I said someone with scoring ability, not leeching ability.

More good players out there on the PP to leech from, no?

Calgary on the power play was like choreographed ballet. Nice quick passes, solid puck possession.
Stars on the power play was more like sumo wrestling on the boards, and a bunch of turnovers. I agree with both of y'alls suggestions Benn should park himself right in front of goalie, Seguin should come more into the slot. I'd put Janmark opposite side of Seguin. And Klingberg up top. That still doesn't solve the problem of entering the zone. Lol

Nah, Radulov needs to be opposite Seguin just for his passing and ability to possess it on the boards.

We need a really tall, big player to stand in front of the net and do the Avery.

Ya, Radulov probably would definitely be a better option. I just like Janmark. Has the league pretry much gone to having two d men on pp, rather then having 1 d man, and 4 offense players. Or was that 4-1 power play something Lindy Ruff did?
