Welp, that was the best thing to come out of the game for me. This season, though better than last, is becoming increasingly frustratingly disappointing.

So, maybe it isn't all coaching?

There are things the coaching can do this help this team out. Such as the Stars team plays better, scores more, allows less goals per game, wins more when a certain player plays, so it's natural to sit him, so they can start to lose games.

Coaches can also choose to start offensively gifted d-men over slow and plodding d-men.

Radulov is correct. Even as a Honka fan, his being in would have changed nothing last night.

The game plan for the next game against the Jets should be to forget about the puck and just check the *poo poo* out of them until they're all injured.

I don’t see how an 11 minute a night guy can be a major factor.

11 minutes of getting the puck out of the d-zone and up ice is better than 0 minutes of getting the puck out and up ice.

I was actually thinking last night that Honka would’ve looked better on the 2nd power play unit than what we were sending out there. But, no, Honka is not all that good at clearing the zone. He reminds me of Fistric in his last days here — hesitating on outlet passes and then skating into trouble when he can’t find an open man.

I guess, but it’s not like it makes a lick of difference to wins and losses.

And to Al’s point about the 2nd PP unit, that is where he should shine, but the second PP unit is equally terrible whether he’s in games or not.

I’d love for Honka to be some big difference maker, but he has been invisible this season.

Dallas has an insane winning percentage in games Honka plays. Even as a rookie, he does a lot of little things that Pateryn and Methot just can't. Like Klingberg, he cuts off plays in his zone and pumps it out before the other team can set up and do anything (not all the time, of course: and when he doesn't, that's when we all notice it). He keeps plays alive in the o-zone all the time, too, and gets his shots on net from the point. If Hitch ever lets him deke again...

It's not just Honka. I believe we've also broken up the top line these past six games too, right? The result has been less than two goals a game and two shutouts against. I get that Hitch has to put Benn on the third line because Hanzal can only play half of one period before he breaks, but... sheesh. Reunite the top line, reunite the third line, and put the other two in a blender, and start Honka over Pateryn. Oh, and put Klingberg/Lindell behind that first line, too.

I thought most hockey players were superstitious.
So what if Honka sucks, if you realize that he's your lucky rabbit's foot then you *fargin'* play him.

Also, we scored 3 goals against the Jets (granted it was against their back-up though),
and I can't help but wonder what could have been if Glass Fatso hadn't predictably let in 4 soft ones in a row ...
