11/18 vs Oilers at 1 pm - get the loss out of the way early

Postby Troy McClure » Fri Nov 17, 2017 9:50 pm

If you're going to *poo poo* the bed on the season, might as well not interfere with people's weekend evening.

Still no Methot, so it's another game with Pateryn.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Scheduled loss with Kari, so I'll see you guys this afternoon at .500.

They could start by not folding in the third period. From the Stars Official Site:

The Stars have not scored a goal in the third period over the past eight games and they have been outscored 12-0 over the final 20 minutes of regulation during that stretch.

The Stars have been outscored 26-11 in third periods this season. The 11 goals in the third period rank last in the league and the 26 goals against rank 30th.

3rd period? Well they're tired at that point.

Everybody knows real hockey is only played in the first two periods. 30 other teams are dumb as *f-bomb*.

I predict Shore will bust out with a triple hat trick. 9-0 Stars.

Just kidding. I predict we’ll “look competitive” and lose 5-2, with only the top line getting goals.

So Roussel on the top line was the missing piece of the puzzle.

If Spezza keeps this up he could end up with double digits in goals for the season.

So I didn't realize this was a fuck-early game... what did I miss? The box score certainly seems intriguing, with Roussel putting up 3 points in 7 minutes.

Roussel was playing up with Radulov and Benn and the three of them benefited from Roussel’s speed but also some lucky bounces. First goal especially when Roussel threw a puck from behind the net off the goalie’s heel and in.

The power play was a liability early because we gave up multiple short handed breakaways.

Kari weathered some early barrages, misplayed goal against #2 by not cutting off a pass across the crease, and looked lost on the third goal against.

Kari got pulled and the Stars stabilized in the second period. Pitlick had a sweet spinorama assist to Faksa.
Shore had a lucky pinball goal. Spezza got a late goal when the Oilers abandoned their half of the ice on a line change during a pk.

Actually, we came out lookin' pretty good. Scored two goals, had a nice lead, alright. Then we gave up a shortie, a PP goal and another in the first minute of the second. Our goalie savior Bishop replaced Kari. Shore scored his first goal of the season by throwing a puck to the net, it hits two oilers and goes in. Celebration ensues and the dam breaks open. Ok, not really, but Faksa scored a sweet goal, which was really all Johns way back in their own end to start the play, to take the lead. In the 3rd, the Stars did something for the first time in eight games, scored goals. It was kinda scary there to start, but they kept pushing and scored two more for good measure. Especially Spezza's no pressure PP goal with under two minutes to go.

Thank you hockey bajebus, we needed those two points.

So a typical Stars-Oilers game, basically.

The goal where Kari struggled to get up and move across his crease is why Nill needs to find a good young backup. Kari can’t move well enough to do the job. Other teams are able to draft, develop, and promote young athletic goalies. For some reason the Stars can’t.

Who was responsible for Turek, Fernandez, Turco, and Smith? Someone needs to send them a tweet.

I was at the game. A pocket of Oilers fans started chanting “let’s go Oilers!” I was more than mildly amused at the guy behind me who started chanting “USA! USA!”

I was also at the game. A few fans tried to start chanting "Talbot" after so e of those goals, but no one took it up. Probably because we're not really in a position to taunt other goalies.

Yes. Teams who start glass goaltenders shouldn't throw stones.
