Luddy sure is praising the Stars a lot for being #pesky, talking stupid retaliatory penalties, and fighting.

Lindell has not been good since Methot went down and Lindell started seeing tougher matchups.

Stars are so slow compared to the Lightning. What happened to the speed this team used to have?

A lot of that was a myth to begin with. Reckless, nondefensive style doesn't necessarily mean fast.

But a lot of it came from the blue line. Goligoski and Demers and even Oduya were mobile and good with quick breakouts. Methot and Oleksiak and Hamhuis are big and slow, and Lindell has no notable attributes. He's like if you create a player in NHL 18 but leave all the sliders at neutral.

Also I don't think Tyler ever regained that extra step he had before the Achilles injury. I feel like his speed was top tier before, but you don't see him beating a lot of guys with speed these days.

That was Gulutzan-era level give up from this team tonight.

Yep, this obviously isn’t their year. 5th or 6th in the division at best.

I’m amazed at how invisible Hanzal and Spezza have made themselves this season. That’s around $13M of dead weight. Everyone else looks like a slightly shittier version of their previous selves.

Yeah, so far Hanzal looks like a worse signing that Hemsky was.

And somehow Pateryn is still trusted. He's worse than Jordie Benn. Can't make a zone exit pass to save his life and can be counted on to turn it over to the other team in the Stars zone a few times a night.

I used to bag on Goligoski for peppering the back wall with so many shots. But the current crop of D seems like they are are primarily aiming their shots at the closest defender’s shin pads. Shots from the point are basically turnovers.

Apparently Robidas is teaching them how to shoot. Or it turns out that Klingberg is the only dman with any offensive game, which lends itself to the shinpad thing or the rim it around the boards play. Which is basically where we were 4 years ago or whatever when they had like the lowest scoring D core in the league.

I guess we can call Carolina a machine too. We gave up 14 regulation goals in the past 3 games. 11 of those are on our goalie savior Bishop.

Both Pateryn and Oleksiak shouldn't be playing. Team has too many options on defense without any offensive ability, hurts the transition game, etc. So it's like they're playing down a man all the time even at even strength.

My favorite part of the broadcast was Razor noting how Seguin’s goal scoring has dried up recently. Yeah, I wonder why that is.

There is no one to call up who is any good.

There is no cap room to add help.

You guys are all crying over losing to a team that wins 90% of its games? Please.

Tampa is playing at a near-perfect peak right now, but I doubt it's sustainable. I'm much more worried about losing to sub-mediocre has-beens like Florida and Carolina than to the 1985 Bears of hockey.

I think once Hitch stops getting cute with his lineup, and puts the top line back together and straight-up benches Spezza and Pateryn, we'll be fine.

Frankly, I'd be a lot more worried if I were a Lightning fan. All these early wins are nice and fun and all, but mid-November is NOT when you want your team to peak. Just ask the Gulutzan Stars.

I don't give a *poo poo* how well an opponent is playing. When you're blown out and not the least bit competitive, it's not a good sign -- especially how it looks when you couldn't beat two of the worst teams in the league in your prior efforts.

This hot start by Tampa probably gets them into the playoffs. The Stars have fallen out of a playoff spot. They aren't far behind points wise, but they are now second worst in the conference in goals against behind Arizona. Their special teams play remains better than last season, but otherwise, there has been no improvement.

And the reason Spezza won't be benched (other than the obvious contract reason) is because there is no one to put in his place. There is no help on the roster or in Cedar Park.

This was a measuring stick game against the best team in the league. The Stars didn't measure up. Even in the first period when it was 0-0 the Stars were just holding on for dear life. It wasn't one thing, or one player. Partly it's personnel, we got what we got. Partly it's lack of effort, especially after the short handed goal. Or maybe they were just too beat at that point to stay above water. Chalk it up and move along. Poor Ben, though, deserved a better fate.
