I'm depressed that was correct. There is zero chance he'll still be good at that point.

I don't know how to tell you this, but I also didn't have Benn's contract right. His runs for six more seasons. This is the first year of his big contract extension.

Here's Mike Heika's take via yahoo nhl news, hopefully it's not paywalled

https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/dallas ... e-deadline

Maroon
Domi
Pacioretty
Nyquist
Kane, Evander

I've like Nyquist in Detroit. He's pesky but doesn't score as much as one would have hoped. But he'd still be an upgrade.

That seemed better than I thought. We should definitely trade him to Vancouver for Brock Boeser.

A magic bean prospect isn't going to get you Karlsson, even one as highly touted as Heiskanen. Look at what just got ponied up for a rental Rick Nash.

It would take Seguin to get you Karlsson.

Hard pass on Maroon, who's 27 goals were 100% Connor McDavid and 0% actual ability.
Domi is intriguing. Depends on what AZ wants in return.
Pacioretty is a two-way 30-35 goal scorer on a Klingberg-esque contract for two more seasons. Teams will be all over that. He'd instantly create a powerful second line for us. Added bonus: intense aggravation for someone on this board if we got him.
NyQuist was really good 4 years ago, but has really slid since then, and is somehow more expensive than Pacz despite half the production.
Not sure about Kane. He seems to wear out his welcome everywhere he goes pretty quickly. But he's also been on some bad teams, so...

You think you'd get maximum effort Evander Kane since a nice playoff performance will get him a sweet contract this summer.

Domi trade negotiations have to be interesting. They wouldn't be looking to trade him if they weren't worried about having to sign him to a new big contract.

The Blues sold Stastny to the Jets. Interesting to see the Blues be sellers. The Blues got a 1st rounder, 4th rounder, and Erik Foley (a former 3rd round prospect who's playing in college) and are retaining salary.

Seems like a real seller's market this year. These prices are pretty insane.

Stastny kills us on the reg, but I just checked his career stats and he hasn't cracked 50 points in half a decade. Part of that is obviously playing under Hitch for so many years, but still.

It sounds like another few months of Nill being "very pleased with the team treading water and putting forth routine subpar efforts" situation.

A 1st, a 4th, and a no-name forward for Kane? That's it?

*f-bomb* off Nill.

If we sit pat, I'm probably not watching much of the rest of the season. No point.

Fans will probably vote with their wallets and stop showing up to some degree too.

This will further anger you. The 1st round pick is conditional. If he signs with the Sharks, it stays a 1st. If he walks in free agency, it drops to a 2nd.

The 1st becomes a second if he doesn't re-sign with SJ.

Yeah, but which Evander Kane are you getting? The guy who stormed out of the gate with 35 points in 40 games, or the guy who has put up 5 points in his last 21 games?

The Jackets got Vanek for nothing. Probably the best deal of this trade deadline.

Pens seem to have a raging erection for former Stars d-men. We could probably get two 2nds for a homeless dude in a Grossmann jersey right now.

If the Pens win the Cup again with Jordie, Oleksiak, and Connauton, I'll laugh and then cry.
