This is one of those games that look great on paper. But Arizona was embarrassed last game and if Dallas takes them lightly, it could be very regrettable.

Eh maybe Radulov should have put that one past the rookie?

Lehtonen couldn't even get the start against a winless team ...

Way too many centering passes being thrown across the top of the crease to no one in particular.

Arizona doesn't seem as terrible as their record. They just can't sustain any offense. As soon as they move into the offensive zone they lose the puck. If they score at all tonight, it's going to be something lucky on the rush.

Like that. Nothing luckier than a Demers goal.

I didn't realize half of Arizona's defense are former Stars.

Bishop and Ritchie (especially Ritchie) not so hot on that goal.
Klingberg surprisingly okay though.

Aaaaand thank you, Phoenix (they'll always be Phoenix to me Elaine), for giving us a .500 hockey team and hopefully you'll gift us an above .500 hockey team on Thursday.

Arizona is a much better team than their 0-6 record. But maybe not all that much better.

Like a dog who's been used to being whipped with a garden hose, I still flinch whenever the other team gets a shot on goal. It may take me a while to get used to this whole "making routine saves" thing.

These wins seem to follow the familiar 98-00 Hitchcockian teams... close games on the scoreboard, but more or less Dallas dominating most of the game in all three zones, before they turtle in the third and ekk out an empty netter.

All three Dallas scorers needed those *fargin'* first goals tonight.

I'm starting to get the strong feeling that Dallas may not be as good as advertised this season.

All four of these things, but especially number two.

There is not a lot of forward depth. If Spezza doesn't get going, this is a St. Louis team with one scoring line, two checking lines, and then whatever is below a checking line as the fourth line.

Say what you will about Hemsky, but it was a luxury to be able to trot out a player with 500 career points on your third line. You basically replaced Eaves, Sharp, and Hemsky with Radulov, then crossed your fingers that Shore or Ritchie or Faksa or Janmark would be more than just a guy, and so far they haven't been.

Janmark, Shore, and Faksa have been awesome. Janmark, especially, has been a real bright spot on both offense and defense. Faksa kicks ass in the d-zone... between him, Hanzal, Janmark, Pitlick, and our improved D and G, our penalty kill has been a joy to watch.

The only real problem guys I see are Spezza and Roussel.

The Stars are pretty balanced. Those players, Janmark, Ritchie, Shore, Hanzal, Faksa, Pitlick aren't going to score at a 1st line clip, but between them all, plus their good defense, that might be enough.

This was a good game in that the Stars stayed patient while the Yotes pushed. They knew it was coming and from playing so solidly, they started to take over the possession game. When AZ pushed again, the Stars held. Quite novel. Addded to that, Bishop makes saves. :)

Anyone remember when Scuba was so excited to get Spezza he almost wet himself?

Spezza never was a great skater. But, he's getting even slower now that he's aging. He looks a little like Andreychuk did post-lock out.

Except Hemsky wasn't given four million a season to be a third liner. He ended up on the third line because he mostly sucked.

Hemsky sucked until he was put on Faksa's line. Then he was a breath of fresh air.
