Oh. It sounds like they're going to raze Key Arena and build an entirely new arena on the site. In that case

So, Buffalo has scored one goal in its last four games. And it came in the third period of a game they'd already lost.

And Buffalo put Matt Moulson on waivers yesterday. I guess he's been terrible, no points and -9 in 14 games. Something whack goin' on in Buffalo. I didn't see if he got picked up, but surely some team could use him, right?

I think someone might accidentally pick him up mistakenly thinking he's a beer.

He didn't even score against us, and that guy used to be good for four goals a game against the Stars.

I hated that guy. Him and Patrick Sharp got about 60% of their career goals against us.

Am I allowed to say Jack Eichel looks like he's extremely overhyped. Nice player, sure, but let's stop any talk about him being up there with McDavid.

Agreed. A Sabres fan and I were discussing this a while back. They are not in the same "league." Not even close.
One is the next Gretzky. The other is Just a really good player.

Meanwhile, Ovechkin has broken into the top 20 of all time goal scoring and is only just past halfway into his career.

I've only seen him against the Stars, but he hasn't been super noticeable like a McDavid or Matthews.

The US/Canadian exchange rate was falsely propping up the value of the league as a whole for a long time. Now that the Canadian dollar has dropped back down compared to the US dollar, the chances of Canada getting another team are next to none.

Seattle may be the next expansion franchise, but I sure hope Florida, Long Island, or Calgary pull a ‘Baltimore Colts’ to Houston.

Re: 2017-2018 NHL Season Thread
Even though a team in Québec City would cut into the Habs' market, the last thing we need as hockey fans is more French fucks, so let Seattle have their franchise for 5 years (so that people can escape the rain more) before inevitably moving to a non hipster city where people don't hate sports. I do enjoy the idea of 32 teams and even conferences though.
And it's the Hurricanes, Coyotes, and Panthers who desperately need to relocate.
Islanders and Flames aren't going anywhere despite all the garbage talking.

Houston Hurricanes, hmmmm. I just read where some rich Dallas businessman is buying the majority and keeping them in NC. You’re right about the flames and islanders though. It’s just posturing.

The clause is that they can move from Carolina for 7 years. Then we get the Houston Harveys.

Houston has a fairly decent market for hockey. I remember going to Aeros games. Not a super large following, but there were a fair number of people there. There are a lot of northern transplants there.
Would be awesome to get a Texas rivalry going.

Not true, whatsoever. Houston is one of America’s gems and has a great vibe, especially inside the loop. Its the 4th most populous city and has the same US rank of metropolitan areas by GDP- the largest in the Southern US. The best things are it’s tremendous diversity and how great most people are to each other.
It will be a NHL hockey city.

This is sad news. I knew him best from NHL 94.
