I was going to throw Thornton in with the mix, but I just realized that Chiarelli was hired after that trade.

The Bruins have made some really stupid decisions over the years.

Yeah, we only passed on Barzal and Kyle Connor once. Boston passed on them three times.

The Sedins are both retiring at the end of this season.

Man. The Canucks may not win any games at all next year.

Still pretty productive, Henrik with 48 points and Daniel with 52 points on the season.

Hall of Very Good? Their stats are more or less identical with the likes of Doug Weight, Patrik Elias, Ray Whitney, and Keith Tkachuk. Henrik only topped 20 goals twice in his career. They do both have some individual hardware though.

They also played their entire careers for a Canadian team. They'll be in on the first ballot.

I don't know. From 2009 to 2011 (two year span) they were number 1 (Henrik) and 4 (Daniel) in total points. And from 2005 to 2016, they are numbers 4 (Henrik) and 5 (Daniel) in total points in that timespan. That seems pretty worthy. Even from 2000 until today they are 5 and 7 in total points. I'm pretty sure if we had even one Dallas Star during that time who hit those numbers, we'd be mighty pissed if they weren't put in the HOF.

And in case you're curious, from 2000 to 2018, the highest ranking players who might be considered a Star (ex: ignoring Jagr) are:

#12 - Brad Richards
#17 - Jason Spezza (a real stretch since we know most of it came from Ottawa)
#30 - Mike Ribeiro
#57 - Sergei Gonchar (blolz)
#76 - Jamie Benn
#80 - Jason Arnott
#81 - Ales Hemsky
#90 - Jussi Jokinen
#91 - Mike Modano
#94 - Loui Ericsson
#96 - Brendan Morrow

Isn't Jamie like fifth in total points in the last five years... and he sucks?

Benn is 3rd in points in the last 5 years. Seguin is 5th. So imagine how much higher Benn would be if he didn't suck.

3rd in points in the last 5 years ought to get us a good return. :)

How much of that is due to the first 2 years of that 5-year span? I'm going to assume all of it and that he was 37th in points in the following years.

Saturday's tilt between the Blues and Avalanche will officially determine the 8th spot in the West.

Colorado needs to win in regulation, or it's the Blues making the playoffs.

Speaking of the Sedins retiring, their 1999 draft year has got to be the worst of all time. Just look at this absolute shitshow:

(Especially compared to, say, this: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2003e.html)

Isn’t the 2003 draft considered the best in the history of the NHL?

Nik Hagman was drafted in 99, that alone makes up for the rest.

Oh and hey, check out who we took 9 picks before Patrice Bergeron and 13 picks before Shea Weber.
