So you know the new owner of the Hurricanes, the business guy from Dallas?

Made his fortune with subprime auto loans.

So, I’m watching LA vs. NY and a fight breaks out. During, the LA guy (Kempe) kind of stops to fix his hair. That’s a first.

What was Montreal's excuse again, that Subban isn't a team player or something?

Not only do I love watching Subban play, I like him as a player more because of how much racist old Canadians dislike him.

Tonight was the first time since 2004 that the Sharks played a game without at least one of Thornton or Marleau in the lineup.

I know the skills competition is stupid, but you have to find a gif of Seguin *fargin'* up the stickhandling competition. It's pretty funny.

Also, Klingberg is in the hardest shot competition? Does he even know how to take a slapshot?

Suprisingly, he’s got a heavy shot.

Jaromir Jagr has been placed on waivers. I hope he ends up in Vegas.
It would suck so much *poo poo* if that's how his career ended. *f-bomb* you, Flames.

I think he's done. Speculation is this is the first step to him going back to Europe to play.

Do you waive the typical waiting requirements for the Hall of Fame for Jagr? I think you do.

You would if he actually announces retirement. He probably doesn't think he's done.

He's 34 games from breaking Gordie Howe's all-time record.

Really, it's pretty amazing how much he missed out on when he went to the KHL.

There are a few ways to look at this. Howe's total would be hundreds of games higher had he played in the era of 82 game seasons and had to plow through four rounds of playoffs, but I think what Jagr did was far more impressive.

They both had unnatural runs. Howe played until he was 51. Howe essentially put in 9 more years of NHL/WHA hockey, but Jagr played a lot more hockey in each year he played. Jagr played more regular season and playoff games than Howe and in many more international tournaments. The wear and tear on Jagr's body was so much greater than what Howe endured.

Code: Select all

              Howe  Jagr
NHL Reg.      1,767   1,733
NHL Playoffs  157   208
WHL Reg.      419    none
WHL Playoffs  78   none
IHL           1      none  (gimmick game)
KHL           none   155
Int. Reg.      7    250   (KHL, Olympics, World Cup, Euro leagues, etc.)
Int. Playoffs  none   37  (KHL playoffs)

Total games    2,429    2,383

These totals ignore junior hockey.

I was wondering why I literally never see Jagr playing when I watch the flames.

He looked pretty good last year. I wonder what happened between then and now.

Sorry, Knives. No Jagr at the Olympics. He's going right to the division two Czech team he owns.

Jagr missed camp/pre-season so that hurts any player, let alone a 45 year old, so he was already playing catch up at that point. Jagr started out good with Calgary, then he suffered the believed to be a groin injury, and tried to return too soon from it and it went downhill from that. There is a rumor from the Czech media, Jagr might end up back with the Flames in a couple months if he feels better at that time.

I hope he keeps playing and breaks Howe's record. I wish he hadn't gone to the KHL for that period of time. We might be looking at the greatest player in the history of hockey.

This is crazy:

http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/2224 ... -longevity

Jagr has reportedly been doing 1,000 squats per day since he was 7 years old

Jagr was drafted in 1990. No other active player in the four major North American pro sports leagues was drafted before 1994. There's also this: Jagr was drafted two months after Emmitt Smith was picked by the Dallas Cowboys. Smith retired as the NFL's all-time rushing leader 13 years ago

216 different players have an assist on one of Jagr's goals in the NHL. That includes Flames left winger Johnny Gaudreau, who proudly told ESPN at the NHL All-Star Game that he may have assisted on Jagr's final NHL goal.

Gaudreau was born on Aug. 13, 1993. Jagr had already notched 220 career points by then.

The sad thing is the Stars jersey was the ugliest one he wore. I'm so glad those jerseys are gone.

I wonder if no one is signing Jagr because it's a *fargin'* Old Boy's Club and none of them want to see some furriner break Gordie Howe's record.

Reminds me of what Selanne and Niedermayer tried to do, but Fisher really isn't elite enough to take the regular season off and hop back on board late for an attempt at coasting to a Cup.

That would annoy me if I was a teammate after putting in all that work while he sat on the couch all year.

I thought I saw that Nashville asked him to come back. If that's the case it's not much different than a trade deadline acquisition.
