A fourth round pick? Geez, even other teams don't think highly of him.

Too bad it wasn't a fifth rounder. Those are solid gold.

I think that's a pretty decent return given that Nill was probably being offered nothing for him to begin the season. I do kind of like Oleksiak and hope he does well with Pitt. They seem get the most out of our castoffs.

I'm glad we moved him. But I suppose Julie will be the scratch after Methot comes back.

All of this handwringing about carrying 8 D for all this time out of fear of exposing guys to waivers, and Nill ends up finding out Oleksiak had no value.

If he does, I won’t lose sleep over it. Some guys need the wake up call of being traded to put it together. It wasn’t going to happen in Dallas. After 3+ seasons of trying to hand him a top four spot, there was no point continuing.

Next up: two defensemen tear their ACLs, and it's the Andrew Bodnarchuk show.

The Stars have the other half of Rod Torfulson’s Armada?

Not gonna lie, we have no D prospects in Cedar Park whose names are worth knowing, so I had to google the roster, and that was the name I randomly selected.

From what I gather, there are no forward prospects there as well.

Heatherington has been really good for Cedar Park. Bayreuther is down there as well. Hansson was supposed to be the Next Klingberg (or the Next Sleeper, anyways), but he's tailed off.

And of course Heiskanen's just a short phone call away...

A phone call from Pittsburgh offering a conditional 3rd-round pick in four years.

It is annoying, but he does it to make Stars fans happy. Every fan wants to know who the next Hatcher or Zubov is.

This is why I hate most Stars fans. We’ve become Chicago Bears fans, continually pointing to our one championship and using it as the only lens with which we view these teams even 20 years later.

To be fair to Stars fans the Stars' performance from 1998 to 2000 was much better than what the Bears accomplished because the Stars at least came close to repeating as champions.

The 1984 Bears played in the NFC Championship Game but lost 23-0 in San Francisco and the next time they won a playoff game after winning Super Bowl XX was in 1988 and the following week they lost 28-3 in the NFC Championship Game to the 49ers again but that time it was in Chicago.

Do other teams hype "The Captain" thing as much as the Stars do? For some reason, it really grates on me when Benn scores a goal and they scream "scored by THE CAPTAIN!" like the team has won back-to-back Cups based almost entirely on Benn's captaincy.

It is pretty funny considering this season marks the 10-year anniversary of the last time they even made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons.

In baseball the Yankees sure did with Derek Jeter despite winning one World Series in the 12 seasons he served as their captain with the highest payroll in the sport during that time. Which included leading them to losing the 2004 ALCS to the Red Sox which remains the only playoff series loss in MLB history after being ahead three games to none.

Jim Nill was on the Ticket a few minutes ago. It didn't offer a whole lot of note except:

- Agrees last night's game against the Wild was one of their weaker games of the last two months. Blamed the travel a bit.

- Thinks Heiskanen might be able to make the leap to the NHL next season. Not guaranteeing it. Either way, it sounds like he's for sure coming over to play in the AHL or NHL. Said he might play on Finland's Olympic team.

- Not looking to make any changes to the roster.

- Blamed injuries for Hanzal's slow start, but he really raved about Hanzal's game.

- Most troubling was his very blunt assessment of Spezza, who is on pace for all of 30 points. Nill was trying to describe what Spezza has to do to see his numbers rebound, but it came off like a eulogy for a guy who has seen the game pass him by. "Well, I think the game's changed a little bit. Even if you talk to Jason and talk to a lot of other players, the game now it's a fast game and it's a pressure game. There's no room in the neutral zone, and Jason has made a career off of creating that room in the neutral zone, and he's going to have to change his game a little bit. It's more of a game now where you have to get it in the other zone and control the corners. I think Jason overall in these last 10 or 15 games I like where he's trending. He's buying into that program to change his game and we've had a lot of guys actually on our team that have had to change that."

Maybe leave Spezza with Seguin or Radulov for a bit instead of keeping him with the 4th line jobbers and maybe you'll see an increase in production. At least put him on the top powerplay unit instead of throwing him out there with Hanzal and Ritchie.

Yeah, it is tough to get going when you're getting 4th line minutes too, but if you can't keep up, you can't keep up.

Not sure if it was here where I read Hitchcock comparing today's game to ping pong, a lot faster & chaotic, and less like tennis, more predictable. Thought that was a pretty apt description/comparison. The game is pretty much harry karry now. Oh yeah, that was in response to Sharp being scratched when we played Chicago.
