So, is Seguin moving to wing or are they both centering different lines?

I used to think that the Flames were the most bipolar team in the NHL.
Now I realize that it's us. This team is seriously mentally ill.

Benn and Seguin are both playing center on different lines. Benn gets Radulov. Seguin gets to try to score by himself.

Dickinson was sent back down to the AHL. The Stars didn't report if he took along his big bag of nothing.

The Stars lineup reminds me of this old gag.

Pretty sure winning back-to-back Cups negates that reputation ...

Man, I'm pretty meh on Nill overall. He's made a couple of really nice moves, but overall his free agent signings are all busts and his drafting is pretty shitty. The Stars have zero forward prospects/young players that can actually make an offensive impact on the game.

I'm bitter of course after this string of *poo poo* hockey, but man, I don't know that I'd rank him as one of the best GMs in the league to where he is untouchable.

For sure. Nill made a couple of nice trades when he was able to use his endless amount of cap room to fleece GMs who were backed into a corner, but now that he’s used up that well, he’s not made any good trades of note.

If the Avs win their game (currently up by 3 goals), Stars are last in the division.

Also, Nill is pretty average as a GM. The Seguin trade was awesome, and Radulov has been great, but everything else is pretty meh overall, or awful. What the hell was up with signing Hanzal?

I'm still 70-30 on Hanzal. Not because of his "offense,", of course, but after watching two years of 75% PKing, it's actually a really nice luxury to finally have a PK that isn't a total embarrassment. Hanzal is a huge upgrade over the guy he replaced (Eakin), including offensively.

And Hanzal is under contract for three more seasons. Nill is going to end up sending a quality draft pick to Vegas or Arizona to get them to eat Hanzal’s awful contract.

I think it's fair to question this regime's coaching hires as well

He's a team worst -12 (tied with Shore), ranks 4th for shorthanded TOI, and is actually ranked behind both Seguin and Benn for faceoffs. He's been a bust so far.

Hitchcock understands hockey, but I do wonder if he's too much for this generation of players. Like he just doesn't have their attention or respect. He's pretty confrontational and harsh.

Not to worry, next year he's hiring Al Arbour.

The team's biggest issues start back on defense. After the game against Colorado on October 24th, the Stars are spending more time in their own end, which they're giving up more shots, more goals against, etc.

The Stars have played weak teams, they're 28th in strength of schedule. They have pretty much lost to any team currently in a playoff spot. (Jets x2, Preds, Blues, Tampa and Vegas).

The good news is most of the league is pretty weak so far. The Stars being the 3rd worst team in the West are only one point back of the final playoff spot. Teams like Colorado, Vegas, will start to fall back.

Bishop has given up at least 3 goals a game in all of his starts this month except for the 14 save game against the Islanders.
They need to get Honka fixed and get him back up.

Hanzal is probably still injured, before one of the recent games he said he was only healthy for 3 of the games this season.

"What's changed now is that when you deal with millennials, there's no point bringing them into a teaching moment unless they're ready to be taught," Hitchcock said. "Today, you have to literally ask that question, 'Are we ready?' because sometimes you can walk into it, and you know they're in no mood to listen. They're in no mood to watch, so you might as well just close the door and go home.

"Today wasn't one of those days. We had a great meeting today. We had some tough video to watch, but I think the guys took it in the right concept, and that's what you're looking for."

Wait, so now we're blaming the behavior of a generation for the results of the hockey team? Aren't there millennials on every team?

Hitch is right. I am in grad school with a bunch of people that are in that age group and a lot of them are that way.

Every thing anyone's ever said about milennials also applies to literally every other person on the entire planet.

It's easy to feel entitled when you had no competition in the labor force and could buy a house for $.25.
