Unfortunately, they can't afford to have three goalies because they're up against the cap. Fortunately, they're up against the cap because they added guys like Radulov and Hanzal (who is not so hot right now).

Listen, we're gonna have to trade away at least one d-man soon enough to alleviate some cap room, so why the hell not just pay Kari to rot away in Cedar Park. I mean he's gonna count against the cap either way, only he'll do way less damage to our team from waaaaay over there.

Send his fat ass to Robidas Island.

I can't agree with you only because I'm giving Tom Gaglardi another free pass. He lost it last summer when he refused to do a buyout then, but he got it back when he threw money at good players. I'm happy again.

Burnside: Five takeaways from Stars' road defeat to Colorado
Off the top of our heads, guys who made an impression: Julius Honka was better in his second straight preseason outing. Thought Devin Shore did a nice job trying to create offense and finished with an even plus/minus rating and three shots on goal. Roope Hintz, too, was engaged and scored the team's only goal with the Stars on a 5-on-3 power play in the third period.

LA Kings are playing Anaheim on the NHL Network. Jack Campbell is in net for the Kings. The Ana announcers just recounted his whole history, including being taken 1 pick before Cam Fowler and then they threw Nieuwendyk under the bus for it.

Anaheim is looking pretty depleted to start the season, no Kessler or Vatanen and Lindholm is out even longer.

You won't be should Bishop have to miss some time. Any time at all really.
The only way I see us missing out this year is if Kari has to take the helm for even as little as 10 to 15 games.
McKenna or Bow are better options at this point and they aren't even NHL ready. You think about that.

Stars will be fine if Lehtonen has to start 32-40 games, as long as Bishop's healthy for the playoffs.

I bet it's just a precaution. No need to risk a long-term injury for some stupid preseason game.

STL didn't suit up a very dangerous team, but still, shutout.

So, I take it the NHL was testing out using beachballs instead of pucks in this game?

The Stars sent 13 players down today and put five more on waivers. No surprises, but here are the lists if you're curious.

I know it's just preseason, but I'm thinking this might be the year our second PP unit scores more than one goal in 82 games:

There is no way Hamhuis ever scores in a real game.
