I'm watching the Chicago/Columbus preseason game. The penalties are just ridiculous. The refs can now call a penalty if a player "cheats" on a face off. Columbus was on the kill and then got nabbed for a faceoff penalty and Chicago gets a two man advantage for 1:38. And the refs are being told to call little slashes, and they have. Kinda bullsh.

Where are they showing the preseason games? I know there was a post about it, but I can't find it.

And Slaps and Troy want to revert back to full two minute penalties regardless of if you get scored on or not ...

They're not. Maybe a team they play on the road will. Remains to be seen.

The Chicago/Columbus game is on the NHL Network. I don't think any Stars pres season games are broadcast at all, but every night of pre season the NHL network broadcasts them.

But is 4-0 Chicago.

And now they called goalie interference. 4-0.

Same in our game. 10 minors in the first period and change.

Tonight on NHL Network is Washington/Montreal. Drouin's first game as a Hab, playing on the top line, centering the Habs best off season signing, Hemsky.

I'm so excited about Janmark, please stay healthy!!! If he's healthy I wouldn't be surprised to see him get 50points. Yeah I like him a lot, i was so bummed when he got diagnosed last year.

Yeah. Next time, they should just leave him undiagnosed and keep throwing him out there anyway.

Losing Janmark hurt a lot last season. He won a whole lot of puck battles and races. It'll be interesting to see if he's any slower now after the surgery and long time off. Speed is a big part of his game.

Allegedly he looked great in the preseason game, along with Benn and Caamano (our latest awesome 5th round pick).

His goal was pretty awesome. But, I think it was against a shitty goalie.

Perfect follow up to Heika writing an article praising Kari and talking about how the Stars should keep him after his deal is up.

Didn't Heika also just advocate keeping Oleksiak or Nemeth over Hamhuis? I mean I never read DMN, but maybe he's just trying to stir the pot?

I don't know why the Stars thought keeping Kari was a good idea. The guy has a brain made of glass thinner than an alcohol wipe. Demoting him to back-up just eroded what little confidence he still had.

I guess he has to find interesting angles to take.

How many roster battles are there? Lots of hype for the Caamano kid, but he has no real chance of making the team. I don't think there's one roster spot available for a young forward. Even a guy like Guruanov is going to be stuck starting the season in the NHL again because the team already has a lot of forwards.

Caamano's probably still 1-2 years away. I think he had just a short stint in the AHL last season, but I'm not going to look it up. Still, he was the OHL's leading scorer for like two whole weeks last fall. And yet another 5th round gem.

Gurianov will be up this season, I'd wager. Guys will get hurt, and we're too tight on the cap to bring anyone in. Unless we trade Hamhuis or something.

Hintz I'd say is ahead of either of them, but he's likely starting the season in the minors hopefully on a line with Gurianov. Caamano has to go back to juniors for this season.
Dickinson or Elie probably has the best shot.

Only goal in tonight's 5-1 loss.
Goal Hintz R. (Honka J. + Hamhuis D.) (Powerplay) [DAL]

Gagree with Jaybot, Hintz is the more ready and Elie and Dickinson are next up, before Gurianov, but he may not be far behind. He's responsible.

Caamano is fast and has some nice skills, but he also needs a lot more experience. Hanging with the big boys will give him confidence, but he still needs to solidify his game before he plays in the NHL. He's a bit all over the place, took a lot of penalties in TC.

He still has another year left. Who is going to take on that contract? Better just to ride it out and then get a cheap back-up next season.

Yeah. But, I mean bench his ass and let a kid take the spot.
