Yay. I hope they re-evaluate the salary cap and how it's structured.

I hope they remove the salary cap so the rich teams can win every year again.

The cap is never going away, but I'd prefer a "softer" cap.

Players can opt out in 2019, for the 2020-2021 season. Players are taking signing bonuses for the 2020-2021 season.
NHL offered the players to extend the current CBA for Olympic participation, but the players declined that.

ESPN buys MLB advanced media, which runs the NHL Network.

What does that mean? All national games on ESPN, some games on ESPN? What about NBC sports?

Disney buying MLBAM will have far-reaching impact on you as a consumer. MLBAM runs everything from NHL.com to HBO Go.

Can't wait til this gets like the NBA where revenues get so high that teams are maxing out guys like Faksa just to get to the cap floor.

Hanzal and Spezza might find some trade value.

The cap sucks. Bring back the era of wealthy teams destroying poor teams every year.

The best part about a non-capped league was watching teams spend millions on stupid contracts only to have them flame out anyway.

That was pretty much just the Rangers.

The Flyers had some pretty awesome stuff working as well.

The Rangers were hilarious with those all-star teams.

The best and most enjoyable part of that for me was when Glen Sather said about the Rangers while still running the Oilers, "Any idiot can win spending THAT kind of money," and was later hired by the Rangers as their next president and general manager.

In his first four seasons running the Rangers he spent even more money than Neil Smith had without making the playoffs until the salary cap was put in place after the 2004-'05 lockout and Henrik Lundqvist arrived from Sweden.

My favourite Glen Sather "Cap" moment was the letter he wrote to the commisioner back in 2009:

The letter charges that Washington fans yelled too loud, and that they made remarks about players being homosexuals -- "Because of the way the glass is installed, the patron sitting behind Coach Tortorella could literally scream into the coach's ear. According to Rangers trainer Jim Ramsay, one patron was screaming at the team, in graphic language, about whether Dan Girardi and Marc Staal have a sexual relationship.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

That was an all-time Rangers playoff failure which I enjoyed immensely. They were up three-games-to-one over the Capitals, lost that Game 5 in D.C. in which Tortorella got himself suspended for Game 6:

Then lost Game 6 at Madison Square Garden, returned to D.C. for Game 7 and lost 2-1 on this shot from Sergei Fedorov:
