Hopefully the price isn't that high.

Montreal and Toronto were interested in Methot, but they were on his no trade list, that's probably why the price was so low. Hopefully it doesn't end up like Oduya. Methot might be a better fit with Honka then Klingberg.

A 2nd in 2020? Man, talk about paying you Tuesday die a hamburger today. This might be the farthest out I've ever seen a pick traded.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I remember a story about Nill scoffing at Vegas' asking price for Methot.
And then THAT ends up being the return?
Vegas really wants to tank LOL.

The NTC helped that out. Montreal and Toronto, probably Edmonton all would've offered more, but when they're on Methot's no trade list, it allows the Stars to get him at a reasonable price.

That's it? That's a great short-term solution for almost no cost. Unless that goalie ends up being the next Hasek.

Meh-thot's ok. Nothing really to write home about. But at least that takes us out of the Alzner "sweepstakes".

He's certainly better than six of the eight chuckleheads we were rolling out on the blueline last season. And he was the responsible partner while Karlsson was in the offensive zone scoring 80 points, so he should at least do OK playing with Klingberg.

Well the cost was low (except I'm not sure that goalie will turn out to be awesome), but I'm not sure this really fixes a ton for us. Maybe it can help our penalty kill and provide some shut down defense. I'm just afraid if he's slow (as I think Jason mentioned) that he might not fit in with the rest of the team. Although, the fast Stars I'm thinking of will now be two years ago with some significant turnover with the forwards, so it might be fine. Our style now might be up tempo but not quite as fast as before.

Some of that up tempo may be gone by virtue of the return of "Hitch Hockey" anyway.

I would characterize Hitch's style as still extremely uptempo, but less creative. He will probably have a cow with our number of drop passes entering the offensive zone.

Methot on the Stars
There was a sense of relief and excitement when he got the call from Dallas GM Jim Nill that he’d been acquired by the Stars. He played for Dallas coach Ken Hitchcock in Columbus so the two are familiar with each other.

“If I’m to go anywhere that would have been one my prime destinations. Not that I had a choice but it worked out well. They have a great team there. They’ve got (Ben Bishop) in net now and they’ve got a good a (defensive) core, some great forwards an some veterans. It’s a great situation for me personally.”

It's more towards the second year of the deal, at times he can be slow, but overall his skating would be average. He is the worst skater on the Stars defense.

Does it really matter if he can't skate like the wind if his job is to hang back and make sure that we are covered defensively?

I'm surprised no one in the NHL has ever had a nickname along the lines of "The Russian Wind" or something.

Who is the fastest skater on our team?

Alright, that's pretty top-notch by Methot:

What was it like to be a Vegas Golden Knight?

Methot: You know what, I'm anxious to see this farewell tribute video that they're going to probably make. So, I'm looking forward to that. And it'll be an emotional night when I play there, but it's something you've got to deal with when you're a pro.
