Huh. I thought Kovalchuk was much older but he's only 34. He might still be productive if he has changed his attitude.

Time for wild ass trade ideas.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

That's not enough to get you Price.

Yeah what most pundits fail to realize is that just a league average goaltender would improve our situation by leaps and bounds and they are much cheaper.

Yeah but I remember when Ryder, Halak, and a 1st could get you Ovechkin back in the day according to Habs fans.

Just wait for Montreal fans to turn on Price, then scoop 'em up a la Seguin and Boston. One more first-round exit should just about do it.

If the Stars trade Seguin I will no longer be a Stars fan.

Price only has one more year under contract. Makes you wonder if Montreal will do something stupid to avoid losing him as a free agent.

So, in retrospect, it looks like the Red Wings dumping Datsyuk's contract was actually a pretty shitty move:

None of the things in that article are really that devastating. "Holland wasted the draft picks and cap space that getting rid of Datsyuk gave them" isn't really the same as saying getting rid of Datsyuk's contract was a bad deal for them.

It also uses after draft Monday morning quarterbacking to pick a winner and loser based on how the drafted players turned out. Say the trade isn't done and Detroit uses the pick. We don't know if they would take the same player the Coyotes did. What if Detroit was instead going to take a different guy who is a big bust.

...or they could have just kept Dat's contract on the books (I believe they already paid him the money, this was just a cap hit), and taken the best guy available with their #1 pick.

Nope! Ken Holland legitimately thought he was going to make another playoff push, and used up that cap space on questionable/old retreads like Vanek and Ott. Those would be crappy signings even if Detroit was "just one piece away", much less if they're on the decline and in need of a strip-it-to-the-studs rebuild.

I didn't read the article. It had too many pop ups! But Detroit signed Frans Nielsen, who was pretty solid. Also Vanek, did fairly well with Detroit. Easy to say coulda shoulda.

ESPN just gassed over 100 employees, including LeBrun and Burnside, which is basically their entire hockey staff.

This will free up the necessary resources for them to cover the WBNA.

Speaking of women's sports. I will come off as a misogynist. But, I take issue with the US women's hockey team demanding equal pay. This is not a situation in which women and men are doing equal work and being paid unequally for it. The fact of the matter is that women's hockey does not have the demand that men's hockey does. The product is simply not wanted like men's hockey is. Therefore, women's hockey is less valuable in the market place. That is why they are paid less. The product is inferior according to the would-be consumers.

And what's up with letting women vote and stuff? Who decided that was a good idea?
