Well there don't seem to be any real potential marquee defensemen in there. Am I right on that?

I've always been told you should buy Lowskanen and sell Heiskanen.

I think it would be better for all of us if we started referring to him as Heineken.

He's the Finnish Heisman.

13. Several NHL scouts came back from the Under-18s incredibly impressed with Finland’s Miro Hesikanen. A lot of the jockeying begins with the third pick, and he is one of the candidates. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if a team like Detroit or Tampa Bay, searching for blueline depth, tried to move up to take him.

Since the U-18s is mentioned above. Nill mentioned on NHL Network he was going to the U-18 tournament..

I'm fine with either a center or a defenseman. I think I prefer a defenseman, though, just because those seem harder to come by.

We're totally getting a center, though. I mean duh.

I need all of the advanced stats before I rule on him. How many pounds per parsecs has he accumulated?

I'm all for best available at #3. The mock draft I just googled had Heineken going at 13. If we draft a center, that makes Eakin all the more expendable, and you have to start considering Spezza's replacement soon anyway, so if you draft a guy who will be a top six center, then all the better.

Agreed. We can always use our OTHER 1st rounder for a defenseman.

Haha! Boom!

I thought we were living good, but then I heard about the Boston Celtics. They're in the Final Four of the NBA playoffs, but somehow also won the draft lottery and will be picking first overall. What the *f-bomb* is wrong with basketball?

They basically raped the *poo poo* out of the crap-ass Nets for their lottery pick (as well as the #3 overall last year).

Back in 2013.

If you haven't looked into it, you should check out the trades they did over the past few years. They ended up with piles of draft picks.

Gabriel Vilardi will definitely be available at #3. He's usually compared to Spezza, but here they say he's like Hossa. Either way, that's pretty high praise:

Total pipe-dream, I know, but if the Devils pick Heiskanen for some odd reason, the Swiss Datsyuk would become available:

I don't know that it's a pipe dream - this draft seems somewhat up in the air. Either the Devils or Flyers could go a bit off the board and we wind up with Patrick or Hischier. That wouldn't really be surprising in a draft like this where there hasn't been a clear consensus #1 pick on a consistent basis.

Saw an interview with Patrick. Was impressed with his maturity. So he's my uneducated no fancy stats pick and I'm sticking with him. I doubt he'll be there at 3. But a girl can dream. Also I'm sure we'll get a stud muffin regardless.

He's probably going to go #1, right?

Nico could also go #1. Or, lately, Heiskanen. But Patrick was "annointed" #1 overall a long time ago, so he's the odds-on favorite. Probably a lot of scouts think that Nico is the best player in the draft, tho, especially after he dominated all the international tournaments while Patrick was just so-so.

So we are going to get one of those guys? What about the third best forward? Who is he?

What goalies rated as fourth round talent can I expect us to use this pick on?

That's a previous iteration of the Stars, at least. We only get really expensive washed up goalies now.

Stars open to moving No. 3 pick

http://www.tsn.ca/stars-open-to-moving- ... k-1.755450

TSN video actually worked for me (usually says not available in my area), but didn't hear anything about being open to trading 3rd overal pick. But I guess he is. Anyway, blah blah blah, play the right way, upgrade the goaltending, injuries, young players.

Disapprove, unless its moving 2-3 spots back and picking up an early second-rounder (or Brent Seabrook). I'd also be interested to see who goes 1st before trading the pick. It would suck to move it, only to have the Devils go off the board and pick Heiskanen, leaving us a way awesomer center option.

Yes, I prefer to keep the pick too, even in a so so draft. But if it nets a great player (forward or D), I could live.
