I think the ideal solution is Hitch as head coach, Sydor for defense, Morrow for the forwards, and Turco as goalie coach.

Remember, though, Turco was actually good at goalie-ing for a very long time, then quit when he wasn't anymore.

Remember when Turco set the record for lowest GAA in the modern era, then had the choice of going out to play more in the last game or two, or sit to preserve the record? He went out and played and walked out with a lower GAA. Imagine if Kari tried anything like that - he'd implode from pressure.

His goals against average was 2.81 at age 33 and 2.72 at age 34 in his last two seasons in Dallas and then 3.02 in 27 starts as a backup in Chicago the next year and 3.68 in four starts the following year in Boston.

In his last two seasons Kari's goals against average has been 2.76 at age 32 and 2.81 at age 33.

Yeah Turco was quite good for a long time. Then wasn't.

Maybe Kari will quit like Turco did.

Yeah, it was likely around training camp or when the season just started, so he wasn't going to be a lame duck coach.

The biggest takeaway from what Dreger said is not wanting to pay the asking price, was that just for Ruff, or for any coach?

That would explain why Ruff mailed it in all season.

Although I guess it worked out with Lindy leaving, hearing that makes me panic that T-Gags is going to jew out for the rest of his tenure. Makes me even more worrisome about the goalie situation heading into next season because we all know that the only fix for that will be $$$.

I guess we'll know more once the new coach's contract is revealed ...

But if it is Hitch then it won't tell us *poo poo* because working for a daily bucket of fresh fish might be his own request.

I will be pissed of T-Gags turns out to be a tightwad and will wish for a new owner if that turns out to be the case.

They could keep 3 goalies like another team did another year and scratch Niemi.

Why stop at 3? We should ice an entire line of goalies. Sure, they won't be able to cross center ice, but with 5 G's on at the same time, you gotta think the other team will never score on us.

I thought Modano and Sydor already had those positions locked down?

Modano is too busy boning his 14 year old wife out in Arizona to be troubled.

He then retired and acted like a child at various times, whether it was being unhappy with how quickly the team was promoting Jamie Benn as his replacement or how he got upset the team didn't want to send him a paycheck while he played golf in Arizona.
