Oh *poo poo*. I forgot about the Benn thing. Didn't he tweet "zzzzzzz...." out about one of Benn's highlight-reel goals or something?

Modano has been pretty much a douche for the last decade or so. It wasn't just him, though. The entire core group was douchey during that era. Morrow, Ribeiro, Ott, Turdco et al. I kind of felt sorry for Avery personally. They never gave him a chance.

And I wish I could find a pic. But, Modano always moved away from Avery on the bench. He would make it a point to move several feet away from him every time Avery sat down next to him. It was pretty off-putting to watch.

Dallas coach Dave Tippett was furious because Avery defied him by even speaking to those reporters. The next day, Tippett made it clear he didn't want Avery back, as did team leaders Mike Modano and Marty Turco.

"Their voice was heard loud and clear," Hull said.

I remember it was either Wonko or Buzzer who was very upset that Modano got married with stubble on his face. Either grow a beard or shave!

On the douche-o-meter, Turco might register, but Avery pegs it out.

I'm even less enthused about Willie than I am about Hitch. Sutter I don't care either way.

I would say Sutter save that he has the taint of Dustin Brown about him.

Nill was on NHL Network today, he mentioned structure several times, mentioned about the special teams being poor. Wants a veteran coach with a winning record, then went on about structure defensively again.

Elliotte Friedman on the Stars “This year, I think if it was totally up to Jim Nill, he might have considered bringing Lindy back for another year,”

“But I think one of the things that’s going on there is that I think they felt that that team – I’m not sure if country club is the right word, but those players had a lot of say and I think they want to bring the hammer down on them a bit. Like, ‘Okay guys. We’ve played a certain way and we took a big step and then this year we just couldn’t play the way we need to play to win.’

“I really think Ken Hitchcock has a decent chance at that job. Ken Hitchcock has obviously a lot of ties to the city. Jim Lites, who’s the president, knows Hitchcock really well. Tom Galiardi, who’s the owner, knows Hitchcock really well – the Kelowna connection. I think Ken Hitchcock has a decent shot at that job and I think he’s the kind of guy they’re looking for to go in there and say, ‘Guys, there’s a different way we’re going to have to play.

Why does this team always have a country club reputation? It's no coincidence that such a reputation coincides with being a bad team.

At this point we might as well go the Avs route and let Mo be GM and Belfour the coach.

Are Sutter's teams normally good defensively? He'd also give the best interviews.

I am down. Every time Kari or Niemi lets in a bad goal, Belfour should smash a bottle of whiskey over their head.

They were 6th best this season, and the only team in the top 15 on D who didn't make the cut. They were 3rd best last year. They're also usually #1 or near the top in shots allowed.

So yeah, way better than Hitch. Counterpoint: Sutter looks funny.

Man, I didn't realize LA canned both Sutter AND Lombardi. And replaced Lombardi with Rob Blake and Luc Robitaille. Hiring former players to run the team generally has a 100% success rate, I'm sure this will work out really well for them.

Yes. Colorado has been quite successful with Sakic at the helm.

Patrick is also gone. Fraser will be given an opportunity to interview with the new coach. Oceans rise, cities fall, but Reese remains goalie coach.

Also means no one who is an assistant on a playoff team is in the mix. It's retread all the way.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.
