That depresses me, so I will not think about it any more.

Stars mailbag

On if Eaves returns to the Stars.
Close to zero chance. The Ducks and Eaves are reportedly already working on a contract.

In a more recent conversation I had with Ken Hitchcock he was very complimentary of Stephen Johns. He likes the potential and some of the tools Johns brings to the game.

The feeling I got is that Jim Nill was waiting to see what other players are exposed from other teams and then looking to see if a deal could be swung to potentially land a player that way — possibly a defender.

I just can't get over how many people are salivating about Nichushkin potentially coming back to skate up the wing and shoot a puck directly into the opposing goalie's chest over and over again.

They might as well just re-sign Vincour.

I didn't know about this.

Pretty sobering story. I know some around here enjoy taking shots at Morrow, but he really did sacrifice his body for the sport. Saw him at the rink right after he finished playing for Tampa and he was moving like a 65 year old man. Seen him since then and he physically looks much better, but you never know what these players and former players are going through.

Dallas, for example, is thought to be one of the teams most interested in Tanev and they have the third and 29th picks in Friday’s draft. One of the rumours making the rounds has the Canucks, who pick fifth, flipping picks with the Stars and picking up their late first-rounder and another asset for Tanev.

Benning — and to be clear, he was speaking hypothetically — didn’t think much of that idea.

“I”m going to make those calls and see what it’s going to take to move up,” said the Canucks’ GM. “But I’m not going to shoot myself in the foot to move up a couple of spots.”

Good, that sounds like a shite idea anyway.

Some dude so amazing at defense that even the Canucks can't wait to get rid of him at the first opportunity.

Their third best defender on the Canucks by ice time.

Remember, the Stars signed their second best d-man at the time last off-season.

Yeah, so if rebuilding the 15-16 Canucks defense is your idea of a path to success, we'd be a third of the way there.

We're going to wind up with 47 defensemen again, and won't be able to decide we like any of them.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the number Nill will keep on the roster, but I also think/hope (thope?) Hitch is going to do a better job of picking his six favorite fairly early and rolling with them.

The laces are so authentic and retro. They remind me of the old reebok jerseys.

Why is Wendel Clark's number on the jer-- Wait... is he coming out of retirement and joining the Stars? That'll help the PP for sure.

Well. I guess Reebok can't sue Adidas since they poked a bunch of holes in the numbers. Good call Adidas.

So Mark has started a website with a blog and forum. Guess this puts the writing on the wall for Burnside taking his job.

7. As for Marc Methot, word is there is significant interest. This is going to make Senators fans sick, but the first teams that jumped into my head were Montreal and Toronto. It would make sense for both to want him. I can’t confirm it, but it sounds like both of those clubs are on his no-trade list. So when you really think about it, Dallas makes a ton of sense. He is exactly what they need and have been looking for. If the Stars wanted to do it, they could. Sources say they have a pretty high pick. The difficulty for the Predators and Senators is, to keep these players, you have to make a better deal than someone who wants them. Competition always drives up the price.

Based in Wisconsin during the summers, Elliott attends a goalie camp run by former Dallas coach Mike Valley. Among the other students: Jake Allen, Ben Bishop, Kari Lehtonen, and Darling.

Can someone find out who his sources are telling him that the Stars have a pretty high pick? We need to stop all these leaks.
