Yeah. I did feel like his coasting on defense was not as spritely as it was the previous year.

Spezza is projected to pay wing this year, so they may be right.

The Hockey News yearbook mag is out.

They have the Stars as the most improved team of the off season.
They gave the Stars 15-1 odds to win the Cup.
They have the Stars finishing 1st in the Central, beating the Blues in round 1 and then losing to the Preds in round 2.

They have the Penguins 3-peating as champs by beating the Oilers.

FYI last season they predicted the Stars losing in the SCF to the Lightning.

It was crazy to watch the national hockey media not grasp just how bad the goalie situation was going into last season.

It was even crazier to watch management not do anything about it.

Dave Gagner? *poo poo*, I might go now. He was fun to watch.

The retro night sounds kind of cool. It will be interesting to see the current lineup in the old jerseys.

I thought Gagner hated Dallas because of the move from Minnesota.

Also, I wonder if they will be playing the pedophile song for old time's sake that night. lol

In the spirit of the evening, in-game entertainment throughout the game will mirror what fans experienced at Stars games during the 1993-94 season.

Y'all better start the night off with a moment of silence for the Waco siege.

They should have a 94 white Bronco drive out onto the ice during an intermission in honor of OJ.

I didn't like the song, but I was sad to see it go because I support pedophilia.

I never thought the Stars would go with Razor as play by play and Ludwig doing color again, but that's exactly what they're doing.

I think that has more to do with being open for Dave Strader to call the game when he's available. But yeah, it wasn't the best duo, but could be worse.

Well they're gonna have to figure it out eventually because I'm pretty sure that potential guest spot opening won't be there next season ...

I don't mind them so much. But, Razor's over-exuberance in the final season of the game was just ridiculous. He called it as if it was game 7 of the cup final. At least Ralph knew when to scale it back a bit.

Stars mailbag

Honka has more natural talent, he’s a better skater, and he has a higher defensive IQ. Klingberg will likely be the better player throughout this season, but Honka will catch him sooner than later.

I’m going to go off the board and refer to Honka as a playmaker on the power play. He’s very efficient at cycling possession and finding the open man, while he’s also smart about when and where to shoot the puck.

Honka can carry the puck into the offensive zone on the power play, it’s something he did quite often in the AHL. Whether he does that in the NHL or not depends on how Stu Barnes draws up the power strategy this season.

We also don’t know the exact level of interest the Stars had in Doan. It might not have been a contract offer, and rather a training camp PTO to see what Doan had left in the tank.

I'd be down with Jagr. He's still productive. But, he's lack of speed might be a problem.

Benn, Seguin on various things

Seguin: I knew we had things we needed to address. We got Bishop, and I was like, "That's awesome. [He's] one of the best goalies you can get right now." We went out and got Methot and I was like, "OK, we got the goalie and the D-man." Then we got Hanzal, and I'm like, "Heck that's a good summer." ... I was ready to go and then I saw on Twitter that Radulov was following me on Instagram. There were rumors that he was coming to Dallas. So I called Jamie Benn and, sure enough, we got Radulov. That was the cherry on the cake. We got the feeling from the organization that, "Hey we're kind of going for this."

Benn again, on Jagr: I think [Jagr] should play in Vegas. Why not get a hockey legend with a new team and try to sell some jerseys at least, put some people in the stands? He's got his little entourage, people who follow him around from past teams. He can still play. He had a pretty good year last year. Just because he's 70 doesn't mean he needs to hang up the skates.

More
"We were out of it with 50 games to go. I lost focus, I did. Never had that before. It was a lost year; we had a good team." -- Dallas Stars center Tyler Seguin, on his team's poor showing last season.

Agree 100% with Benn. Jagr and Vegas are a perfect fit.
