Stars Captain Jamie Benn spoke about Hemsky, "I didn't know men had labia."

Honestly he won't be missed if we had any of the other injured forwards in the lineup. Was this the last year of his contract?

He had a really great 15-20 game run with Faksa. The entire rest of his stay here was basically Ladislav Nagy 2.0.

It seems like Ales Hemsky has made a career out of recovering and rehabilitating. lol

I cheered myself up by searching the board for the term Glass Fatso.
Good stuff.

Looking back that World Cup of Hockey sure did screw us.
Although Halak did great then and he's doing great again now.

Nill had some juicy stuff to say today on Bad Radio.

- He said he has three coaches on his short list.
- Put a lot of blame on the team's best players for letting them down. Certainly meant the likes of Benn, Seguin, Spezza, and Klingberg.
- Said some young guys stepped up while others disappointed. Bob asked if a couple of young d-men being scratched the last game gets to who the team thought was disappointing (Johns and Oleksiak), and Nill laughed for a while before saying yes.
- He didn't want to fire Ruff mid season because he wanted to see if Ruff could get the team to the playoffs when everyone was mostly healthy.

Dallas had 42 points in the first 41 games, when everyone was hurt, then put up 37 the rest of the way, when most everyone came back.

Possibly relevant side note: St Louis finished 15-2-2 after canning Hitch.

If Honka's being promoted to the NHL roster next season, a Hamhuis-Honka pairing would be the perfect fit.

I bet Hamhuis goes to Vegas. Who else would they want? He had a rough start to the season, but was fairly reliable in the second half.

A lot of Stars talk here.

I have a hunch Cody Eakin will be traded, but that’s just a hunch.
Either way, Eakin won’t be exposed in the expansion draft. If he’s leaving the Stars organization its via trade.

I asked Hitchcock about the Stars young defenders on Thursday. He mentioned Esa Lindell, John Klingberg, and Julius Honka by name.

He didn’t mention Stephen Johns or Jamie Oleksiak.

Hitchcock also added that the Stars defense is still a mystery. It’s hard to dissect the situation with the number of defenders they used this season and the number of injuries.

There are a lot of moving parts, but it’s possible that Johns won’t be back next season whether it’s as part of a trade or via expansion.

That's weird. I see lots of potential in Johns. But, there is a reason I am not a coach or a GM.

Hopefully the Stars stay away from Alzner in free agency.

“The ones that get you inside the knee usually don’t feel good because you can’t really do a whole lot,” Alzner said. “They just send that shooting pain down your leg and you start hobbling around a little bit. Those ones suck.”

“Sometimes where you get hit right in the hand, we have gloves on, but they only protect you a little bit,” Alzner continued. “You get them right in the hand, it’s pretty easy to break something. It’s kind of embarrassing, but my wife (Mandy) is the one who opens up all the jars in our house because my hands have been broken so many times from the shots. I’ve got pretty weak hands now.”

Heika: Eakin could be traded.

Heika: They will protect seven forwards and three defensemen. The decision on defense is between Jamie Oleksiak and Stephen Johns, which is a coinflip right now. The choice among forwards probably comes down to Antoine Roussel and Cody Eakin, and the guess is they would protect Eakin ahead of Roussel.

Because that's how the math looks right now, I think they might try to trade Cody Eakin before June 17. Ken Hitchcock looks like he wants to play Tyler Seguin, Jason Spezza and Radek Faksa at center, and that would mean Eakin would slide to a wing, where he's not as effective. I think he can be a good second or third center in the NHL, so he has trade value.

We know what Oleksiak is. We don't necessarily know what Johns is. Johns should be kept for sure.

Oh cool. Another offseason spent rehabbing instead of training. The excuses for next season are coming together nicely.
