2016-2017 NHL Regular Season Thread

Postby Jason » Sun Oct 09, 2016 4:12 pm

Friedman
As the 2016-17 season looms, there remains much to settle regarding pending changes to goalie equipment.

The tighter, more form-fitting pants will be worn…once everyone gets them. The hope is that’s in time for Wednesday. But it’s possible that doesn’t occur since Reebok/CCM ships from China and Bauer from Thailand. But goalies recognize this is going to happen early in the season.

The more contoured chest/shoulder protection? That’s an uncertain target.

It'll be interesting to see how meaningful it is.

It will really help our small, athletic goaltending.

Stars signed Lauri Korpikoski to a 1 year deal. Davey Tippett's favorite! Season saved!

Why else would our season all of a sudden be saved?

I was just thinking that we were kinda short on lower line Eurospares.

Pretty bold statement about what Nill thinks of the lower line forward depth.

Remember: NHL GMs have to plan for about 47 injuries. They all do this.

I mean, look at what you've got. Val, Fiddler, and Sceviour are all gone. Mckenzie, Ritchie, and Eakin have all proven they're not really NHLers. Roussel is as good as gone as soon as we have warm bodies to replace him, but you may be stuck with him for the whole year now. Janmark is gone, and Shore and Dickinson have been hurt. After that, you're scratching the bottom of the AHL barrel with career minor leaguers like Travis Morin and Brendan Ranford.

With Roussel on your team, speedy and effective penalty killers like Koroikoski are always in demand.

The only reason Roussel ever takes a bad penalty is he's so stressed out by our goaltending.

Edmonton has scored on it's first two shots against Elliott.
Chiasson scored for Calgary.
