The people running those numbers are also only looking at 5 on 5 even strength play. Yeah, during even strength play, Kari and Bishop had similar save percentages. Kari's was .9249 and Bishop's was .9245.

What about when killing a penalty? Bishop was .8696. Kari was .8029.
What about during a PP? Bishop was .9048. Kari was .8293.
What about during the dreaded 3 on 3 time that plagued the Stars so much this season? Bishop was .8462. Kari was .7059.

There's no way Kari saved 70% of shots in OT.

70% is basically one out of every three shots. So... yeah, I can buy that.

Some interesting tidbits in this article:

TSN wrote:Treliving: Flames didn't try to land Bishop

Calgary Flames general manager Brad Treliving says he did not try to land goaltender Ben Bishop
before the Los Angeles Kings traded his rights to the Dallas Stars.

The Flames general manager admitted to the Calgary Sun's Eric Francis he had permission to talk to Bishop's agent last year at the draft, but said he made no such steps towards acquiring Bishop this year.

“I’ve heard I’ve tried to get him three or four times, which isn’t correct,” Treliving told the Sun. “We’re looking at goaltending, so it’s natural we’d be poking around. Did we look at it as an option? Yes. But the assumption we can make is that for the American guy who played minor league hockey in Texas coming to Calgary was probably not choice No. 1. And if he was, it was probably for a long time for a lot of dough.

Bishop, who was slated to become an unrestricted free agent in July, signed a six-year, $29.5 million a few days after being traded to Stars. Francis reports the Flames inquired with the Kings on Bishop but were told Calgary was on his no-trade list.

I thought that was unusually candid and funny from Treliving.

Man, Darren Pang has really turned what was a SHITTY career into a decent broadcasting gig. There's still some hope for you, Kari!
May God protect you from his followers.

I'm surprised Turco doesn't do more broadcasting. He was really good at it, if I recall.

No he wasn't. He was awful. He would ramble on with his sentences and just keep talking nervously because he didn't know when to stop.

I don't mean during the game, I mean one of the talking heads during intermission, etc. I thought I remember him being funny and good at that.

Most athletes actually start out as really shitty commentators, but some get better. After practice.

I remember how terrible Ludwig was at the beginning and now he sounds pretty thoughtful.

Disagree, I've been told Romo is already the best in the business.

So did I. I remember him being horrible. I figured that's why he left the broadcast team.

That's true. Ludwig sounded like an autistic 10 year old when he first filled in for Razor back in the day.

Maybe Turco would get pretty good if he practiced for a while.

Turco getting mike'd up for the third period at the All-Star game is easily the best thing in NHL All-Star history.

Yeah he was awkward when the Stars had him mic'd up outside of the Allstar game. I thought Barnes was pretty good when he was on the broadcast. What happened to him?

Barnes left the Stars front office after the 2012–13 season, and currently serves in a dual capacity as the Tri-City Americans co-owner in the Western Hockey League and as the head coach of the Okanagan Academy Prep hockey team.[4]

His son plays for Okanagan, so they are up there to support his hockey dreams. The family still spends some time in Dallas (daughter at SMU).
