They basically traded Backes and Brouwer for Yakupov, Perron, and Upshall. I.... don't see where that is an improvement.

More ice time for Tarasenko, Fabbri and Lehtera, is a big upgrade. It's not just the players who they brought in, it's the players who will be receiving the ice time of Backes, Brouwer, they are more skilled players. Tarasenko, might finally play closer to 20 minutes a game instead of about 14-15 minutes a night. Yakupov is a huge wild card, he could out produce Brouwer from last year.
Schwartz is currently out for the Blues.
Ott being gone, that's another upgrade for the Blues.

The Blues will score more goals then last season.

Yes. He has infested the Red Wings. Of course, they suck even without him.

Chicago is playing Nashville again, trying to avoid a 0-3 start to the season.

If Scuderi doesn't report to the Kings AHL team, Chicago will gain about $1 million in cap space. Penguins and Kings will also gain cap space.

Leafs up 4-0 in Winnipeg in the second period, Leafs lose 5-4.
2nd overall pick Laine had a hat trick for the Jets.

The Blues have scored one goal in seven of their last 12 games and were shut out in one of the other five.

More ice time for Tarasenko, Fabbri and Lehtera, is a big upgrade.

The Blues will score more goals then last season.

After averaging 18:38 of ice time last season, Tarasenko's averaging 18:39 in 15 games this season.

With his average ice time up to 16:15 from 13:19 last season, Fabbri has scored one goal and 4 points in 14 games and was a healthy scratch in Nashville last night.

With his average ice time down to 15:17 from 16:05 last season, Lehtera has scored one goal and 2 points in 11 games this season.

It's probably not helping their cause that their second most offensively-skilled player after Tarasenko is probably a defenseman, Kevin Shattenkirk, who knows he's not part of their future and was expecting to be traded at the draft five months ago.

I thought Fabbri was going to be my late steal of my fantasy draft. I was wrong.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Weird stat: the only team (out of 14) in the entire Western Conference with more than two more wins than losses (including OT/SO losses) is the Blackhawks. Everyone else has been treading .500 (like Dallas) or outright sucking.

His second goal tonight, third in two nights and 7th in his last 13 games since being a healthy scratch in Nashville:

I just watched the highlights of that game, and... holy *poo poo*. Our worst games on defense is a million times better than what the Avs did to-night. I'm talking guys falling down, guys dropping their sticks and then bending over like a senior citizen trying to find his contacts while the goal scorer goes right up to the net, etc etc. Not just once, but over and over and over again. And those were just the highlights where Montreal actually scored.
