Re: Central Division Talk
It’s hard to tell whether Gaglardi is willing to spend like crazy. He spends up to the cap each year, so he’s not cheap. He seems to spend more on marketing than even Hicks did. Who knows how much he had to pay to make Hitch go away. But I have no idea how things like their scouting and development budgets compare to other teams. For some reason, those figures are public when it comes to baseball, but I’ve never seen an article where NHL development and scouting departments are compared.

I swear I saw something about the size of scouting departments within the last year. I think the Stars were middle of the pack.

If only they had held on to Niemi and Darling.

I can't believe another team put regular season on a banner.

Blackhawks just fired Coach Q, the man who won them three Cups.
The Hawks are two points behind the Stars in the standings right now, just to give you an idea of the difference in where the bar is between them and us.

Re: Central Division Talk
Firing Quennville surprises me, but it shows you no coach lasts forever. What's the old line - no matter how attractive a woman is, somewhere some guy is tired of her (and for B Kat, no matter how handsome a guy is, somewhere some woman is done with his *poo poo*).
Interesting to see where Coach Q lands. Don't know that he would want to take on LA - many of the same roster issues that Chicago has. And the trend is towards younger coaches. I suspect the line will be out the door given his resume though.

Re: Central Division Talk
From an article on The Athletic on Coach Q's firing:
Is it Quenneville’s fault the Blackhawks got older and slower? Did Quenneville trade away Hjalmarsson and Panarin in losing deals? Did Quenneville give up Teuvo Teravainen to get out of a year of Bryan Bickell’s onerous contract? Did Quenneville deal away Vinnie Hinostroza just to dump off Marian Hossa’s contract? Did Quenneville swing and miss on the Phil Danault trade to Montreal? Did Quenneville sign a No. 6 defenseman (Brandon Manning) and a 39-year-old forward (Chris Kunitz) in response to the Blackhawks’ worst season in more than a decade? Did Quenneville sit on more than $5 million of cap space this summer rather than spend it on obvious holes in the lineup?
“When you gave Joel Quenneville decent rosters, his players performed and they had success,” one league source told The Athletic. “This is not a decent roster.”

That dude from the Athletic nailed it.
This is the same franchise that had Bargainbin as an assistant GM LOL.

I knew Yeo wouldn't last long. He isn't a good coach.

Why not just re-hire Q?

So when does Armstrong get the axe? He's now on his fourth (maybe fifth if Berube is only the interim) head coach in eight years.

That’s like getting in a car wreck on a way to an important meeting. Good for him. I bet he didn’t do his little razzle dazzle move before they went in the room.
