Their gamble costs them essentially nothing. He's on a one-season, league-minimum deal. Even if he's completely useless, they can scratch him or send him down to the AHL and not worry about the cost too much. Nill giving him a two-season $3 million per deal was one of the dumbest things by any GM over the last few seasons. Nill bid against himself to pay a whole lot for a guy who wasn't even in the top 50 KHL players.

100% correct. And the future will tell if the Pavelski deal will be even worse.

That has to be some kind of record for a top-10 draft pick. Even Stefan didn't go that long without a goal.

And it's more when you count the playoff games and preseason games.

Well deserved. After this one and Brad Richards’ #91, we should be done retiring numbers for a while.

Zubov is the greatest. Something we can all agree on. ;)

Do you think Zubov's Hall of Fame plaque will have a cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth?

Joking aside, good for him. He definitely was the best defenseman this franchise has had. Time will tell on Miro, but the things Zubov could do were simply amazing.

Zubov dispels the rumors:

I didn’t do it in the locker room. They are lying. Outside the locker room, yes. But not inside the room. It’s a bad habit, honestly, and we really shouldn’t even talk about it to begin with. And actually I did smoke for a long time, but I quit. I quit a year ago. I don’t smoke cigarettes anymore. That’s the good part of my story now.

I also heard he drank vodka in between periods.

Actually now that you mention that he did always kind of have that look. It's the mole.
