He would have coughed it up to that forechecker and gotten his team scored on in the NHL.

Depends on what Vernon Fiddler wants to do. It hasn’t been announced, but I think it’s essentially a foregone conclusion he’s going to retire.

Earlier this week he was acting as a coach at the Stars informal skates in Frisco, and from what I’ve heard he’s looking forward to spending more time coaching his kid’s youth hockey team here in Texas.

If he wants a role with the Stars it would be a great fit. Fiddler has been a great ambassador for the game here in Texas.

He's like the modern Carbonneau. I'd be happy for him to return in some capacity.

I consider him more of a modern Stu Barnes.

Anyways, even someone with zero coaching experience would be preferable to Fraser.

I considered Stu to be a fast Carbo anyway so that fits too.

I'd be up for Fiddler coming back, if only for the "On The Roof" jersey guy.

Fiddler's son plays hockey here on my neighbor's team. I guarantee you if he's retiring he's coming back to Dallas.

I never thought Jyrki was that bad. He's okay on the third pair.

The problem with being just a dude is these current waiver rules causes teams to be clogged up with former draft picks who aren't yet proven every day players but are also possibly at risk of being claimed on waivers if the team tries to send them down. I gripe endlessly about the Stars carrying 8 d because Nill is afraid of letting go one of the young players, but Nill isn't the only one doing this.

Jagr says he hopes to play for a contender.
"It's about going to a team where they have, let's say, fewer wings; going to the team that has a chance to win the Stanley Cup; and going to the team that plays similar kind of hockey as I do," Jagr said. "And to the team where I know there [are] a couple of players that I could click with playing together."
He also admits that salary is something that factors into the equation.

"Money is a factor, too," Jagr said. "But not because of the money itself, but because if you took an offer with a minimal salary, it could easily happen that after the first half of the season they tell you, 'Bye,' and you don't have a spot on the roster anymore. Myself, I'm curious to see how it's [going to] turn out."
If Jagr appears in 57 more NHL games, he'll overtake Gordie Howe for most games played in league history at 1,768.

Could he fit with the Stars at all? I admit that I am curious to see what would happen.

Ray Whitney made him look amazing for a couple of months.

Blolz. I had never heard of 'Robidas Island' until someone used the term today and then I looked it up:

"Without anyone saying so for the record, Lupul was essentially told to get lost, not be around the team in any way, say nothing, and for that he’d be paid in full to play his part on Robidas Island, the fictional place where management sends players to disappear."
