Think it's a bit? ;)

Habs making a smart bet on Hemsky

It flew a bit under the radar, but the Montreal Canadiens’ one-year signing of Ales Hemsky still seems like one of the better bets made by any NHL general manager this off-season.

It was a great bet if they were looking for a skilled, offensive winger who sits in the press box all season. Sure. Great move!

Well they HAVE to find some sort of silver lining considering the off season that the Habs have had so far LOL.

Image

Also, this is their depth at Centre. Pretty intimidating right?

Danault
Plekanec
Mitchell
Holland

And for those who say that Galchenyuk is their number one C, then why did he play LW on the 4th line last season under both Therien and Julien? LOL.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer franchise (who are also charging STH's an additional $150 fee for printed tickets).

Literally half their defense is Dallas cast-offs.

Wow. That's gotta be depressing. Even our D wasn't that bad.

It's okay though, because Bergevin is going to use the 9 million in cap space that he unintentionally has left over (by playing chicken with Radulov and Markov) to somehow land Tavares because two summers ago a picture was taken of Tavares, Weber, Crosby, and Marchand together. Even though JT will cost more than 9 million per and grew up a TO boy.

And a recent poll on the Habs board at HF says that the current roster Habs make the playoffs no problem :)

The only reason the Habs might get more than 70 points next year is because they have Price. No way they break 90.

Their D isn't terrible. Shea Weber is a pretty good start. Alzner is very good, Petry is vastly improved from his Oiler days and even Jordie has it on occasion. Schlemko is quite handsome, so there's that.

I thought Alzner was terrible. Petry I don't know much about. I know too much about Jordie and Schlemko.

They have one puck moving defenceman. One.

I predict that if either Price or Weber misses even 10 games, they miss ...

It's ridiculous to me that Price has been wasted on that franchise. He should have gone to a contender by now.

Alzner is terrible around his own net, and has very weak hands. Petry and Weber will be worn out by March.

Considering my fetish for goalies, this one hurts waaaaay more than the Iginla/Harvey debacle.

Hey, he might be a fine goalie coach. It's not like a great coach can make a terrible player into a good NHL starter. It wasn't his fault all ten goalies he coached got worse the more time they spent with him.

Dallas hasn't turned out a decent (meaning regular NHL'er) goalie from within its own prospect pool since Mike Smith. Let that sink in for a minute, because I think Mike Smith is like 35 or 36.
