The HNIC people mentioned Julie last night. They did say a trade was possible. The other unsigned is Puljujarvi, but he is happy to continue playing in Finland.

Too bad, if we could’ve gotten him back over here, it would’ve made for a fascinating battle for 9th on the depth chart between Johns, Honka, and Bayreuther.

I’d love to hear Nill explain how he thinks he’s helping the Stars franchise by holding on to Honka for a third full season waiting for a trade return no GM is willing to pay.

I'm not sure why he didn't trade him at the beginning of the season last year when it was clear the third head coach in a row didn't like Honka. There was really just no point keeping him then.

He's not costing you a roster spot or money at the moment. May as well hold on to his rights. Even if you're trying to get a 3rd and nobody is biting, you can always take a 6th for him at some point down the road.

But in the time value of money approach, I’d rather have had the 2018 6th rounder versus Nill stubbornly waiting to accept a 2020 or 2021 6th rounder.

I suspect teams aren’t even interested in trading their 6th round picks because a 6th round pick still has a chance to be an NHL regular.

No Honka trade. The Stars still hold his rights, but he can't play in the NHL until next season.

Odds are he can't play an NHL game next season, either.

When I woke up this morning, Honka was trending on Twitter, and the first thing that I saw was an unconfirmed tweet saying that he had been dealt to the Devils along with a 2nd in exchange for Michael McLeod and a 3rd. I took it at face value because I didn’t care enough to look it up. Hilarious to see now that it wasn’t true LOL.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

Just trade him for Puljujarvi and let them both finish out the year in Finland and get some confidence back, along with a fresh start.

Pretty sure Puljujarvi has more value than Honka.

He's an NHL professional forward that went an entire season without scoring a goal, and you're still on that hill, dying?

That was a TERRIBLE play at the blue line by Toronto, so getting a breakaway wasn't impressive. Shooting and having it get off the ground was great. In fact, it was something he couldn't do all of last year.

Blake Comeau has as many goals as Nichuskin this year, in eight fewer games, so there is that.

Listen, I'm happy for Nichuskin. Never thought he has a bad guy, he was just an average at best hockey player who was drafted higher than he should have been. He then lost all of his confidence and has struggled to get it back. He is never going to score 40 goals in a season - he's probably a 10-15 a year type of guy. Ultimately, he's no different than a lot of bottom six role players in the NHL - he was just drafted in the first round.

But Blolz at Spezza with his flying piece of stick before being stuck at the blue line, waving his arms.

Nichushkin really looked like a rocket compared to the half of Stars players.

Devin Shore : 14 games 3 assists

Sounds terrible until you compare to Cogliano’s 24 games and 4 assists.

Except Cogliano is excellent defensively. Shore mainly was just there.

If he hadn’t been scratched several times earlier this season due to poor play, he’d be on pace for ten goals and twenty points over an 82 game season. But, hey... nice highlight.

Of the Stars had kept him, they’d be paying him almost $3 million for 20 points. That’s awful. Comeau is on a better pace.

1 goal in 17:32 TOI. So if Bednar let him on the ice all 60 minutes long, he will have a hat-trick in every game.

5 goals for Val. He will pull ahead of Seguin and Benn soon.

He’s on fire now that he’s not asking to be traded and pouting. *f-bomb* that quitter.

The only quitter who should be worried is James Nill, for bailing on a 5-goal scorer like it was nothing.

Nill didn’t bail on him. Nill stick by him to the point where even after he’d demanded trades, whined to Russian media, quit on the team, and fled back to Russia, Nill still gave him a nice contract for him to come back and quit on the team again.
