I agree with Todd, pairing him with Dillon worked real well. Goligoski can roam and create, Dillon can cover for his defense deficiencies. Assuming they don't try and get Dillon to start making offense, which would be a mistake. They need to play to strengths.

All Dillon has to do is be able to take a shot when he has to. And not be terrible at keeping pucks in the zone.

Not even, Holmes. If it wasn't for his contract expiring, he would be owed his entire remaining salary if he gets *poo poo* canned. Which at the moment, would be all of nothing.

Uh...yes. His contract is ending, precisely. Obviously contracts do not have severance pay attached.

Frank Provenzano let go, too. That's kind of weird, he's supposedly quite good at hockey.

That is unexpected. I would have expected Nill to make that kind of hockey change sooner when Nieuwy was fired.

Was he fired, or did he quit?

The article said it was "an amicable split" but it definitely sounded like Nill showed him the door.

Frank will find a job somewhere else in the League pretty quickly.

I'm pretty shocked at this. Nill expected to fill the position from within. I wonder who will get it. Jackson?

For some reason I thought he had ties to Detroit. Obviously a long while ago. I also think his wife is the Dallas Stars' official realtor. Read something in a game program. She'll have to find herself a new house.

Nill just getting rid of his successor.

Dreger mentioned a few weeks ago the Stars granted Provenzano permission to seek another job.

No you don't.

I actually saw a comment yesterday that Pittsburgh won that trade.

Well, DUH.

Nill's contract runs through 2022-2023 season. He received a 5 year extension in 2016, even though he had a couple years left on his current deal at the time.

Absolutely no way he makes it that long. At most, he has one more year if they get nowhere again next year.

Hey, Detroit seems to be rather low on this list as well. I wonder what the coinciding factors are?
